The Draenei Heritage quest from World of Warcraft Patch 10.2.7 confirms plans to build a new city on Azeroth. This new World of Warcraft city is a huge deal for the Draenei, who have been without a true home for about 17 years, both in and out of the game.

World of Warcraft Patch 10.2.7, Dark Heart, is the final content update before The War Within’s pre-patch. The update added several new storylines, including epilogues for Dragonflight, a Void-themed narrative bridge between the WoW expansions, and Heritage Armor questlines for Trolls and Draenei, each of which grants players several cosmetic rewards.

You Can Do More Than Pet The Cat in World of Warcraft: The War Within

World of Warcraft fans who fancy felines should look forward to The War Within, as they can do more than simply pet the cats they encounter.

While all of these new questlines have been popular among fans, the Draenei quest in particular has a huge revelation that could spell something big for the race’s future. At the end of their new Heritage quest, shortly before they unlock the World of Warcraft Heritage Armor rewards, players are treated to a short cinematic where Velen addresses the crowd gathered for the Tishamaat – a ceremony of remembrance revived during the quest – during which the Draenei leader reveals they are building a new city to live in on Azuremyst Isle.

World of Warcraft Draenei Heritage Quest Rewards

  • Endurance of Temple Telhamat (Orange) and Embrace of Lost Embaari (Purple) Heritage Armor sets.
    • Each comes with two headpieces – one featuring a face covering, and another without it.
  • The Draenic Hologem; a Hearthstone toy usable only by Draenei and Lightforged Draenei.

When the Draenei were first introduced in World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, they crash-landed on Azuremyst Isle. Their starting experience largely involved navigating the wreckage of the Exodar and establishing a foothold. However, in the 17 real years since the expansion was released, and the over 15 in-game years since their crash, the Draenei have not had a true home beyond the wreckage of the Exodar.

Needless to say, Draenei fans were overjoyed with the news of a new city, and loved the Heritage quest in general. Players have been hoping the Draenei would finally set down roots now that the Burning Legion is gone, and most agree the Heritage questline was the perfect place to do that. What’s more, the announcement of this new city has some fans wondering if the Azuremyst and Bloodmist Isles will eventually get a revamp, like how the Eversong Woods is in WoW: Midnight.

The Draenei Heritage quest is full of other incredible details as well. Draenei characters, both old and new, are involved with the Tishamaat, including the Eredar who became playable during Dragonflight’s previous quest, and main-universe versions of characters previously only seen on Alternate Draenor. This, combined with two color variants of Heritage armor and a special Hearthstone, has led the Draenei questline to be as well-received as World of Warcraft standouts like the Orc Heritage quest.
