Some World of Warcraft fans think the apparent August 19 end date for WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria might coincide with the beginning of The War Within Pre-Patch event. If this speculation proves to be true, World of Warcraft players may be able to narrow in on a release window for The War Within itself.

Recently, World of Warcraft announced the release dates for Patch 10.2.7, Dark Heart, and the subsequent Mists of Pandaria event that comes with it. The final patch of Dragonflight drops on May 7, with WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria starting just over a week later on May 16. While World of Warcraft didn’t give a specific end time for this event, the in-game calendar for The War Within alpha lists it as running through August 19.

WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria will offer a new way to experience panda-filled adventures with new features and progression.

However, some fans think this end date might be a huge hint at World of Warcraft’s plans. The roadmap said The War Within Pre-Patch event would take place this summer, with the launch itself in late summer or early autumn. If the WoW: The War Within alpha calendar is accurate, there is reason to suspect the Mists of Pandaria event ending on August 19 means something big is happening on August 20 – likely the Pre-Patch event for The War Within.

While purely speculative, this release schedule would line up with World of Warcraft’s recent content cadence, which aimed to release a new update approximately every eight weeks. There were two months between 10.2.5 and 10.2.6, as well as 10.2.6 and 10.2.7. An August 20 Pre-Patch would place it three months after the last update, but assuming it lasts for about four to six weeks – the average for most Pre-Patch events in World of WarcraftThe War Within itself may launch in mid-September; four months after Patch 10.2.7, and about eight weeks before World of Warcraft’s 20th anniversary.

By this projection, the beta for The War Within would start somewhere in June, as they typically run for three to four months before launch. The alpha is still ongoing in the meantime, but World of Warcraft players can opt into the beta on the official site now.

It is important to note that most of these numbers have not been confirmed by World of Warcraft yet, so official releases could be earlier or later than these estimations. Either way, the next several months are going to be busy and exciting for World of Warcraft fans.
