Trepang2 is now available on Xbox Game Pass, having joined three tiers of the service. This is the 14th new addition to the subscription service in April 2026 and the 68th Xbox Game Pass release since the start of the year.

Trepang2 is a single-player first-person shooter from Vancouver, Canada-based Trepang Studios, published by Worms creator Team17. It was first released on PC in June 2023 before making its way to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S four months later. As of April 2026, the game holds a 77 average score on OpenCritic and over 11,200 “Very Positive” player reviews on Steam. Critics and fans alike praised its slow-motion mechanics and combat, with some arguing that Trepang2 is one of the best modern FPS games for feeling overpowered. Its horror-leaning story, single-player focus, and gory combat have also drawn frequent comparisons to the FEAR franchise.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Subscribers Have New Perks to Claim Right Now

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate adds over a dozen new perks, ranging from in-game currency and cosmetics to complimentary subscriptions and comic books.

Xbox Game Pass First-Person Shooter Catalog Now Includes Trepang2

Trepang2 has officially expanded the Xbox Game Pass FPS catalog on April 29. Since it’s not a day-one arrival, the 2023 title is available across every non-Essential tier of the service: XGP Ultimate, XGP Premium, and PC Game Pass. As the debut title from Trepang Studios, it also marks the developer’s first-ever Xbox Game Pass release. Despite what its name may suggest, Trepang2 is not a sequel, with its title actually pronounced as “Trepang squared.”

Team17-published titles have historically stayed on Xbox Game Pass for over a year on average. For instance, popular multiplayer shooter Hell Let Loose was available to subscribers between January 2024 and December 2025, whereas Overcooked 2 has been part of every tier of the service since December 2019. It is therefore possible that Trepang2 will stay on Xbox Game Pass until at least the second half of 2027.
