Xbox Game Pass Adds One of 2025’s Best-Selling Games and 2 Day-One Titles

Xbox Game Pass subscribers have up to three new titles to play today: two day-one releases and Battlefield 6. The trio marks the fifth, sixth, and seventh arrival to join the Xbox Game Pass catalog in October 2026.

From a commercial perspective, DICE’s latest shooter is one of the biggest additions to Microsoft’s subscription service this year. According to Circana, Battlefield 6 debuted as the best-selling game in the U.S. in November 2025 and retained the top spot through the end of the year. It outperformed NBA 2K26, Borderlands 4, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which rounded out the top five in that order.

Battlefield 6 Now Available on Two Xbox Game Pass Tiers

Arriving Alongside Deep Dish Dungeon and Valor Mortis

Just ahead of its first anniversary, Battlefield 6 joined Xbox Game Pass on October 13. It arrives alongside two day-one releases: dungeon crawler Deep Dish Dungeon and soulslike Valor Mortis, both played from a first-person perspective. Deep Dish Dungeon debuted on the service at 9 a.m. ET, with Valor Mortis following at 12 p.m. ET. While Battlefield 6 is not a day-one arrival, all EA Play titles on the service are limited to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Valor Mortis and Deep Dish Dungeon willl eventually trickle down to the XGP Premium library, but EA’s shooter is expected to remain restricted to the two highest tiers of the service.

What Critics Are Saying About Valor Mortis

The latest title from Ghostrunner developer One More Level currently holds an 80 average score and 78% recommendation rate on OpenCritic. Early reviewers have generally praised Valor Mortis for its distinctive alternate-history Napoleonic setting, grim atmosphere, and satisfying first-person combat focused on parrying. Platforming and level design have also been singled out among its strengths. Criticism has been more varied but commonly centers on limited enemy variety, uneven difficulty, technical issues, and encounters that can become frustrating from a first-person perspective. Some reviewers also described the game as repetitive and suffering from underwhelming bosses.

Deep Dish Dungeon does not yet have enough reviews to qualify for an OpenCritic rating, though the reviews tracked by the aggregator are broadly positive. Its exploration, atmosphere, and interconnected dungeon design have all earned praise, as have its environmental puzzles and survival mechanics, particularly cooking and crafting. The game’s hands-off approach is a recurring point of both praise and criticism: figuring out routes and progression with little guidance can make discoveries feel rewarding, but the lack of a map or clear direction can also lead to lengthy stretches of confusion and backtracking, according to early reviewers. Among the more consistent criticisms, combat has been singled out as the game’s weakest element, with reviewers describing it as stiff and lacking impact.

The Xbox Game Pass October 2026 lineup currently has five more confirmed titles on the way. Bluey’s Happy Snaps and Chained Beasts arrive on October 15, with colony sim Beyond These Stars scheduled to follow a day later. The Seance of Blake Manor and Terrible Lizards are then due to debut on October 27 and 29, respectively. Even more monthly additions are likely to be announced on October 20, when Microsoft is expected to unveil its Wave 2 lineup for October 2026.
