Disco Elysium is now available on Xbox Game Pass. Its arrival marks the ninth addition to the subscription service in March 2026 and the 47th Xbox Game Pass release this year.

A combat-less RPG about a self-destructive amnesiac detective investigating a hanging, Disco Elysium is widely considered a modern classic and one of the best-written examples of its genre. Its 92 average critic score and 96% recommendation rate on OpenCritic also make it one of the highest-rated titles in the aggregator’s database. Metacritic, whose records go back several decades further, gives Disco Elysium a 91 average score, placing it among the highest-scoring titles of all time.

Cult-Classic Open-World RPG Getting Multiple New Versions Later This Year

A classic open-world RPG that inspired The Witcher and many other genre staples is getting several new versions later in 2026.

Disco Elysium Joins 3 Tiers of Xbox Game Pass

The critically acclaimed RPG became available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers on March 19 across three membership tiers: Premium, Ultimate, and PC Game Pass. Microsoft did not add the 2019 original, but rather the enhanced edition of the game called Disco Elysium: The Final Cut. This version introduces fast travel, new quests and characters, bonus locations, Hardcore Mode, full controller support, and native support for 4K resolution. It also expands the game’s voice acting, making every NPC fully voiced.

One of the defining characteristics of Disco Elysium is its witty and flowery writing, which is abundant, but punchy enough for most players not to notice just how much they are reading. Its 75 reviews tracked by OpenCritic describe the game as hilarious, depressing, poignant, introspective, outlandish, and everything in between. In other words, Disco Elysium is a major addition to the Xbox Game Pass lineup of compellingly written RPGs. Subscribers can play it on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and via Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming in supported regions.

Five more titles are on course to join Xbox Game Pass in March 2026. The next stop on the roadmap is Sega’s Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, scheduled to arrive on March 24. The 2024 JRPG will be followed by 2025 roguelite Absolum and day-one city builder Nova Roma on March 25 and 26, respectively. Harsh survival game The Long Dark is also due to arrive on March 30, with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard scheduled for the day after.
