Xbox Game Pass subscribers have four day one games to look forward to in August 2026 so far, with more likely to be revealed in the near future. Xbox Game Pass continues to give subscribers significant bang for their buck. With a subscription to the Ultimate or PC tiers of the service, subscribers get access to everything Game Pass has to offer, and that includes brand-new, day one releases as soon as they launch.
Just recently, Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers were treated to Halo: Campaign Evolved, one of the biggest releases of the summer. Halo: Campaign Evolved is a full-blown remake of Halo: Combat Evolved‘s campaign, and while it may not be quite as well-received as other games in the franchise, it still offers significant value to Game Pass. While Game Pass Ultimate subscribers make their way through Halo: Campaign Evolved, they can turn their attention to the new, day one games that are on the way in August 2026.
List of New Xbox Game Pass Games Confirmed for August 2026
- Beast of Reincarnation – August 4
- Monsters Are Coming (Console) – August 6
- Sandustry (Game Preview) – August 13
- Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy – August 27
At the time of this writing, there are only four day one games confirmed for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in August 2026. On August 4, Beast of Reincarnation will join Game Pass, giving subscribers the chance to play through the action-RPG from Pokemon developer Game Freak in its entirety. Then, tower defense roguelite Monsters Are Coming is joining console on August 6. Monsters Are Coming has technically been available on PC for quite some time, but it’s making its console debut through Game Pass, so it could arguably still be considered a day one release. From there, subscribers can look forward to Game Preview game Sandustry on August 13, and finally, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy on August 27.
Out of all the new Xbox Game Pass games coming in August 2026, the two that stand out the most are Beast of Reincarnation and Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. Beast of Reincarnation is developed by Game Freak, the studio primarily known for Pokemon, and it boasts a post-apocalyptic setting, Sekiro-style parrying, and a unique battle system that combines hack-and-slash with turn-based commands. Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, meanwhile, is a historical action game that serves as a spin-off to the Plague Tale series. Whereas the other Plague Tale games put a focus on stealth, Resonance will offer more straightforward action.
Xbox Game Pass subscribers that are signed up for the Premium tier of the service won’t be able to play Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy or these other games on day one, but they have an update to look forward to in August as well. It’s been confirmed that Heretic + Hexen will join the Premium tier of Game Pass on August 4, so even lower-tier subscribers will have something to play in August.
Grave Seasons was also once planned for release on Xbox Game Pass in August 2026, but it was unfortunately delayed to a vague fall 2026 release window. Grave Seasons is a horror-spin on the Stardew Valley formula, where one of the villagers in the game happens to be a serial killer. There’s a great deal of anticipation for Grave Seasons, and hopefully it gets a concrete release date soon. The games still confirmed for Game Pass in August 2026 will have to suffice in the meantime.
