Xbox Game Pass subscribers will soon be saying goodbye to multiple 10/10 games. Microsoft updates the Xbox Game Pass library regularly throughout any given month. New games are added to Game Pass on various days, while games are typically removed from the service on the 15th of every month and the last day of every month.
When Microsoft announced the Xbox Game Pass September 2026 Wave 1 games, it also confirmed the games that would be leaving the service on the 15th. It confirmed that Xbox Game Pass subscribers would be losing access to titles like Commandos: Origins, Cricket 24, Deep Rock Galactic Survivor, the PC version of Frostpunk 2, Mullet Madjack, Superliminal, and Train Sim World 5 on that day, along with a few titles that are considered by some to be 10/10 games. While Xbox Game pass subscribers should make sure to play any of the games leaving soon that catch their eye while they still can, there are a few that they may want to prioritize above the others.
Xbox Game Pass is Losing Some of Its Best Games Soon
September 15 will be the last day that Xbox Game Pass subscribers can play critically-acclaimed games like Cyberpunk 2077, Dead Cells, and Spiritfarer. For those unfamiliar with the games, Cyberpunk 2077 is an open world FPS from The Witcher studio CD Projekt Red, while Dead Cells is an ultra-challenging roguelike Metroidvania game often hailed as one of the best in its genre. Spiritfarer, meanwhile, is an emotionally-charged co-op game that was nominated for numerous awards at the time of its original release in 2018.
When Cyberpunk 2077 was first released, it was panned for being in an unfinished and buggy state, especially on home consoles. Since Cyberpunk 2077‘s disastrous launch, CD Projekt Red has worked tirelessly to improve the game, and what was once of the industry’s biggest failures has since become one of its most beloved releases of the last decade. Cyberpunk 2077 is now highly-regarded as one of the best open world experiences out there, and so Game Pass subscribers should definitely give it a shot while they still can. There’s probably not enough time to beat it between now and when it’s removed on September 15, but subscribers can at least try before they buy.

Dead Cells will appeal to those looking for a stiff challenge. It’s shorter than Cyberpunk 2077, but whether Xbox Game Pass subscribers have enough time to beat it before it’s removed depends entirely on their skill level. Spiritfarer is pretty long, though, so most won’t have time to finish it before it’s removed. Spiritfarer is great in co-op and one of the most memorable experiences one can currently have on Game Pass, so I highly recommend giving it a shot before it’s removed. It’s a game about death and grief with a charming cartoon aesthetic and surprisingly addictive progression.
It’s sad to see games of this caliber removed from Xbox Game Pass, but subscribers will soon have some heavy hitters to check out. Brand-new day one releases like Minecraft Dungeons 2 and Gears of War: E-Day will be joining Game Pass in the near future, among various other titles, so hopefully they help fill the void left by the September 15 departures.
