Xbox Game Pass and Discord Nitro are officially partnering up to bring subscribers of each monthly service some new perks to enjoy. In short, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will gain some extra Discord goodies as part of their subscription, while Discord Nitro will offer freebies from Xbox and other brands.
Since its introduction in 2015, Discord has become the leading voice and text chat app for gamers around the world. Discord has also allowed game companies and developers to connect with their audiences via official Discord servers. Though it started as a PC and mobile app, Discord has since become available on current-gen consoles. Xbox unveiled full Discord integration in 2024, granting Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S console players another way to chat and text with their friends alongside Xbox’s own services.

Xbox Game Pass And Discord Nitro Announce New Partnership
Weeks after some leaks about Xbox’s new Discord partnership came to light, both Microsoft and Discord revealed some perks for users to peruse. According to Discord, the main draw of this new partnership will benefit Discord Nitro subscribers, as their monthly subscription now includes Xbox Game Pass (Starter Edition). This new Game Pass tier will be available to Nitro subscribers in various countries, including the US, Canada, the UK, New Zealand and Australia.
Users with an active Discord Nitro subscription can access over 50 eligible Xbox Game Pass titles, such as Fallout 4, Stardew Valley, Deep Rock Galactic, and DayZ. Discord Nitro users will also gain 10 hours of Xbox Cloud Gaming access per month, and discount codes that can be redeemed for goods from Logitech G and SteelSeries. New games will be added to Xbox Game Pass (Starter Edition) over time.
As for Xbox Game Pass users, Microsoft said in a blog post that eligible subscribers will receive some Discord Nitro benefits later in May. These new perks include 250 Discord Orbs per month, which can be spent on Discord as a virtual currency on some cosmetic rewards. Additionally, a 1.2x multiplier on Orbs obtained from Discord Quests, and automatic Discord Shop discounts will be included with Xbox Game Pass. Discord Nitro is currently priced at $9.99 per month, along with the cheaper option called Discord Nitro Basic at $2.99 per month. By comparison, Xbox Game Pass Essential starts at $9.99. Discord stated that Nitro Basic subscribers must upgrade to the standard Nitro subscription to access Xbox Game Pass (Starter Edition).
Both Xbox and Discord Have Work To Do To Gain User Trust
It is no secret that Microsoft is in the middle of some changes that will reshape the future of the Xbox brand. With new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma now in charge, Xbox’s leadership team has undergone some significant changes throughout the first half of 2026. In early May, Sharma brought in some of her former Microsoft CoreAI colleagues into key positions within Xbox. Despite bringing on some former CoreAI staffers, Sharma said that Copilot development on consoles and mobile devices would come to an end, as it did not align with Xbox’s future plans.

As for Discord, the popular voice-chat app has come under fire for its controversial age verification measures. In March, Discord delayed its global age verification rollout to the second half of 2026 due to mass backlash from users. Discord said that it would explore additional verification methods with respect to user privacy before continuing its age verification rollout to more countries.
