- Xbox Game Pass may soon be adding the enhanced editions of Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate 2.
- This news was leaked through accidental notifications, similar to what happened with Grand Theft Auto 5 leaving Game Pass.
- The addition of Baldur’s Gate 3 to Game Pass seems unlikely.
Xbox Game Pass seems to be adding the enhanced editions of Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate 2 soon, after some users received messages stating that these games would be coming to the service. Xbox Game Pass has not made an official announcement on the matter yet, but this isn’t the first time that Game Pass news has leaked through accidental notifications.
Last month, Grand Theft Auto 5‘s departure from Game Pass was similarly leaked due to accidental notifications being sent to some users. Unfortunately for fans who still haven’t purchased a copy of GTA 5, this news has since been confirmed, and GTA 5 is leaving the service on January 5th. Based on this news, there is reason to believe that this recent leak is accurate, and Game Pass will likely receive two more classic games in the near future.
Why Baldur’s Gate 3 Fans Should Check Out Wasteland 3
Baldur’s Gate 3 is the darling of the RPG scene, and the fantasy title shares some unlikely similarities with the post-apocalyptic Wasteland 3.
Trueachievements reported that it received a notification that read “Rediscover 2 RPG Classics” … “Play Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2 with Game Pass.” Clicking the notification brought the user to the store page for Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition, which are sold together as a bundle. The series’ first two games were released in 1998 and 2000, so while they’re not the most modern of RPGs, the enhanced editions brought plenty of upgrades. These updates implemented support for high-resolution widescreen displays, crossplay between different platforms, UI upgrades, hundreds of bug fixes and improvements, additional story content, and more. However, it should be emphasized that this news hasn’t been officially announced, so it’s not a certainty that these games are coming to Game Pass.

For those hoping that Baldur’s Gate 3 will be added to Game Pass as well, the chances don’t look great. Recently, Larian Studios’ CEO confirmed that there are no plans to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Game Pass anytime soon. In the meantime, Game Pass subscribers who are curious about the Baldur’s Gate franchise can try out its classic roots.
Some fans suggest checking out Baldur’s Gate 2 over the first Baldur’s Gate, as the latter can be a bit confusing and difficult for newcomers. Similarly to Baldur’s Gate 3, Baldur’s Gate 2 is considered to be one of the greatest RPGs of all time, thanks to its captivating story and sense of adventure.
In fact, many fans of Dungeons and Dragons-style games consider Baldur’s Gate 2 to be beaten only by its successor as the genre’s greatest game ever. For fans of Dungeons and Dragons-style games who haven’t given Baldur’s Gate 2 a try yet, it’s definitely worth a download following its potential release on Game Pass.
