The Xbox Games Showcase has been confirmed for June 2026, at which time there will also be a special direct focused on Gears of War: E-Day. Past Xbox Games Showcases have featured deep dives into specific games directly following the main event, with the 2023 event featuring a Direct for Starfield (as an example), and this year’s goes to the upcoming Gears of War game.
The announcement comes on the heels of the recent Xbox Partner Preview, which put a premium on third-party games coming to the Xbox ecosystem. Not only did this showcase highlight 13 day one games coming to Xbox Game Pass, but it paraded about 20 upcoming games that look really good. Next-gen discussions may be starting early, even for Xbox and its Project Helix console, but it seems the eye has not been taken off the ball.

The Xbox Games Showcase 2026 will air on Sunday, June 7, featuring first gameplay reveals and major announcements from Xbox’s first-party studios and global third-party partners. The Gears of War: E-Day Direct all but officially confirms it’ll appear during the main show, while no doubt fans are excited to presumably see what’s going on with Fable since it’s still officially slated for a 2026 release. Overall, the event promises a mixture of blockbuster franchises, emerging indie titles, and beloved third-party partners.

Immediately after the showcase, viewers can tune into a dedicated Gears of War: E-Day Direct, which will spotlight the upcoming entry in the iconic series with new gameplay, story details, and insights from developer The Coalition.
The showcase also celebrates Xbox’s 25th anniversary with Xbox FanFest, giving fans a chance to attend in person and reflect on the brand’s history while looking ahead. The event will be widely accessible across multiple platforms, languages, and accessibility formats, with additional coverage and deep dives continuing throughout the following week, a la Xbox’s official channels.
Right now, fans will just have to wait and see what comes of this event. Since it’s a few months away, developers probably won’t confirm their appearance until we get much closer, but fans of Gears of War know when they can learn more about it at the very least. They’ve waited long enough, and if games like Fable get new looks too, then it’s going to be a good day for gamers.
