Thanks to a new Xbox PC App update, the rumored Mythic Achievement may have just had its official artwork and unlock sound revealed. For those unaware, the Mythic Achievement is believed to be Xbox’s upcoming equivalent to PlayStation’s Platinum Trophy, which will unlock when players earn every other Achievement in a game.
Introduced in a July 2008 PS3 firmware update, the PlayStation Platinum Trophy made its debut with Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Ever since, Xbox fans have been very vocal about their desire to see an equivalent on their platform of choice, one final reward that represents the effort it takes to 100% a game and its Achievement list. After almost two decades, it looks like Xbox fans might finally get their wish.
Xbox Mythic Achievement Reveals Artwork and Audio
On September 23, Xbox-focused creator Klobrille shared a discovery on Twitter regarding the recently-rumored Xbox Mythic Achievement. Klobrille claimed that the latest update for the Xbox PC App has confirmed that the upcoming Platinum Trophy equivalent will in fact be called a Mythic Achievement, and claims that the new feature’s official artwork and unlock sound have been uncovered as well. Klobrille’s Twitter post features a 16-second video depicting the leaked Mythic Achievement logo and its accompanying audio effect.
While an Xbox equivalent of PlayStation’s Platinum Trophy has been a very long time coming, news concerning the long-requested feature only started to gain significant traction at the start of August. On the same day that Xbox rolled out an update that added voice chat to game captures, a fan request for an Xbox Platinum Achievement was officially responded to by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, who simply replied that the “team is working on something for later this year!”

No official word from Xbox has been heard since, but the rumor mill started to churn back up in mid-September when Gears of War: E-Day‘s full Achievement list was officially unveiled by developer The Coalition. The first Achievement on this list, called ‘The Lucky Ones Died on E-Day,’ quickly turned heads, as its unlock requirement was to simply “Earn all other Achievements” in Gears of War: E-Day. This particular Achievement doesn’t grant players any Gamerscore, either.
Just a few days ago, more fuel was poured onto the fire by Stallion83, the “World’s First Gamerscore Millionaire,” according to their Twitter profile. Using the Xbox Insider program’s skip-ahead feature, Stallion83 found a new section of the Xbox Achievement menu dedicated to ‘Mythic Achievements’, and theorized that this was the long-awaited reward for 100% Achievement completion. There’s been no official confirmation from Xbox that Mythic Achievements are indeed real, or that they function similarly to PlayStation’s Platinum Trophy. It’s also currently unclear if Mythic Achievements will be retroactively added to previously-released games, or if they’ll only be available for upcoming titles. If the Gears of War: E-Day theory is correct, however, Xbox fans might have some official answers very soon.
