A version of the iconic mascot horror game Five Nights at Freddy’s is now playable on YouTube. One YouTube creator has developed a way to play a condensed version of Five Nights at Freddy’s directly from a YouTube video. The game is compatible with both PC and mobile versions of the website, with controls only changing slightly across these devices.
Five Nights at Freddy’s was originally released for PC via Steam back in 2014 and quickly became a mega hit among the budding mascot horror genre. The game spawned a total of 19 sequels and spin-offs to date, along with a series of books and graphic novels. Five Nights at Freddy’s has even seen two film adaptations from Blumhouse Productions. Now, a game that originally blew up because of YouTube is playable directly on the platform itself.
Viral Post Claims Five Nights at Freddy’s is Ending
A recent viral post claims that the FNAF franchise will be ending soon, but several signs have quickly thrown the situation into doubt.
Five Nights at Freddy’s Has a Playable Version on YouTube
YouTuber Atlas Arcade has created a video that runs a playable version of Scott Cawthon’s original Five Nights at Freddy’s. In this video, players are tasked with keeping an eye on both doors of the security office from the original game, watching for Chica and Bonnie to appear. Players must close the appropriate door with the “L” key on PC or by double-tapping the screen on mobile, while using the “A” and “D” keys, or dragging their finger across the screen, to look around. Failure to close the door in time results in a game over.

Although this is not the complete Five Nights at Freddy’s experience, it’s still impressive to see a version of the game playable as a YouTube video. This feat is accomplished through YouTube’s 180-degree video feature to give players a similar view of the security office from the first Five Nights at Freddy’s game. The actual gameplay of this YouTube version of FNAF relies on players skipping the Chica or Bonnie jumpscare when they close the door using the YouTube player’s seek function. As such, players can technically beat the entire game by skipping directly to the end of the video.
This Five Nights at Freddy’s YouTube game isn’t the first playable video that Atlas Arcade has uploaded to their channel. The creator recently released a playable version of Mario Kart for YouTube using similar means of development. Other playable videos on their channel include a first-person shooter, a piano rhythm game, and even a level of Geometry Dash.
For Five Nights at Freddy’s fans looking for more content from the mascot horror franchise, the spin-off kart racer Five Laps at Freddy’s is planned for release later this year, although a specific release date hasn’t been announced. A third Five Nights at Freddy’s movie is also confirmed to be in the works following the release of last year’s Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. The franchise is also set to receive the Five Nights at Freddy’s Character Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded Edition this December, which is a book containing all FNAF details and lore officially released so far.
