PlayStation 5 gamers have a ton of exciting new releases to look forward to in September 2026, including one of the most highly-anticipated exclusives in the console’s history. Ever since the PlayStation 5 first hit the scene in 2020, Sony has worked to ensure that there is a constant stream of brand-new game releases for the platform. Still, there have rarely been months quite as busy as September 2026 is gearing up to be.
September is set to be one of the busiest months in gaming history when it comes to high-profile new releases. This is seemingly because of the Grand Theft Auto 6 release date in November, with game companies wanting to give their titles plenty of time on the market without having to compete with Rockstar’s juggernaut. PS5 gamers looking for something to play to keep busy while they wait for GTA 6 will soon be spoiled for choice thanks to all the new games on deck for September 2026.
This is not a comprehensive list of every single new PS5 game releasing in September.

The ridiculously busy September 2026 is kicking off with The Blood of Dawnwalker on September 3, with both NBA 2K27 and Onimusha: Way of the Sword launching on September 4. September 8 will see the debut of Halloween: The Game and Mewgenics, while Valheim‘s long-awaited 1.0 release is set for September 9. NHL 27 will hit PS5 on September 11, followed by Marvel’s Wolverine and RuneScape: Dragonwilds on September 15, Dune: Awakening on September 22, Control Resonant on September 24, Silent Hill: Townfall on September 24, EA Sports FC 27 on September 25, and finally, Minecraft Dungeons 2 on September 29.
Out of all the new PS5 games releasing in September 2026, there is one that is console exclusive, and another that is a pure exclusive that can only be played on Sony’s latest console. Marvel’s Wolverine is the pure PS5 exclusive, of course, with no plans to ever bring the action-packed superhero game to PC. Wolverine is set in the same universe as Insomniac’s Spider-Man PS5 games, and so there is a great deal of hype behind the project, to say the least.
The console exclusive, meanwhile, is Silent Hill: Townfall. Silent Hill: Townfall is a first-person experiment in the long-running Silent Hill franchise, and it will only be available on PS5 and PC when it launches on September 24. Silent Hill rival Resident Evil found a great deal of success switching to first-person, and it will be interesting to see if Silent Hill can as well with a full-length entry. Silent Hill previously dabbled in first-person with the apartment exploration in Silent Hill 4: The Room, the P.T. teaser for the canceled Silent Hills from Hideo Kojima, and the poorly-received free game Silent Hill: The Short Message.
The sheer number of big new games releasing for PS5 in September 2026 are enough to keep owners of the platform plenty busy, but there’s still a lot to look forward to later on. Big games are coming to PS5 in October, too, like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, Final Fantasy Resonance, Phantom Blade Zero, and more, and of course, GTA 6 is releasing for the PS5 on November 19.
