A new update has been released for Pokemon Legends: Z-A on both Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Switch, bringing the game up to version 2.0.2. The latest mainline entry in the series, Pokemon Legends: Z-A acts as a follow-up to 2022’s Pokemon Legends: Arceus. The Legends games have become quite popular with Pokemon fans, as Game Freak has used them to flesh out past locations from the series. While Pokemon Legends: Arceus offered information on the past of the Sinnoh region, Pokemon Legends: Z-A showed how things have changed in Kalos after the events of Pokemon X and Y.
Since launch, Pokemon Legends: Z-A has seen a number of different in-game events meant to keep players invested. Notably, Ranked Battle seasons have given players a chance to obtain new Mega Evolutions. A “special season” of Ranked Battles is currently underway in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, with strict rules on which Mega Evolutions can be used in battle. On top of all that, the game’s Mega Dimension DLC was released in December, offering new story content and challenges for players to overcome. There has been speculation about whether more paid content will be released for the game, but nothing has been announced at this time.

A boxed version of last year’s Mega Dimension DLC for Pokemon Legends: Z-A is coming to store shelves for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
What to Expect in Pokemon Legends: Z-A Version 2.0.2
Pokemon Legends: Z-A players can update the game to version 2.0.2 right now on both Nintendo Switch 2, and the original Switch. Nintendo usually offers detailed patch notes about what to expect from first-party game updates. That really isn’t the case this time around, as the official website vaguely states that “several issues have been fixed.” That doesn’t give Pokemon fans any idea what’s been changed exactly, but it’s possible more information could be uncovered by the fan community, once players have had time to dive into the latest version of the game. That often happens with these types of updates, with fans stepping in to offer a little more clarity beyond what the patch notes indicate. Regardless of what’s been changed, hopefully this all leads to a more stable game, and a more enjoyable experience overall.

It’s hard to speculate about any specific issues that might have been fixed as a result of this new update in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. While Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were released in rough shape and required a lot of updates over the last four years, there weren’t nearly as many noticeable bugs or performance issues with Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
This update for Pokemon Legends: Z-A might not seem like a very big deal, but players should still be sure to update to the game’s latest version. Generally speaking, Nintendo games require updates before they can be played online, and that will likely be the case with version 2.0.2 of Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Players currently participating in the Ranked Battles special season, or that are planning to do so before April 1, will have to run the latest update if it hasn’t done so automatically on their system. It will also be the case for any special content that gets released, such as Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s recent Mega Garchomp Z event. Nothing new is expected right now, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be additional special content throughout the rest of 2026.
