The Legend of Zelda: Secrets of the Zonai is officially confirmed for release in 2027. The Legend of Zelda is one of Nintendo’s flagship franchises, and this is apparent by the sheer number of releases it enjoys in any given calendar year. Nintendo releases a new Zelda game nearly every year, and even when there’s not a new game to look forward to, fans are often treated to merch drops, NSO re-releases, and more.
In the past decade, there’s only been a few years that didn’t have some kind of Zelda game for fans to sink their teeth into. For example, while a brand-new Zelda didn’t release in 2025, the Switch 2 Editions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom launched that year, plus Wind Waker‘s GameCube version made its debut in the Nintendo Classics library. This year’s big Zelda game is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, with a bunch of associated merch releasing as well to celebrate the franchise’s 40th anniversary. What 2027 holds for the Zelda series beyond the film adaptation remains to be seen, but fans do know of at least one more release coming next year.
Zelda: Secrets of the Zonai Price and Pre-Order
It’s been confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Secrets of the Zonai is coming out in 2027. Secrets of the Zonai was originally supposed to release in October of this year, but was recently delayed to an April 2027 release window. For the uninitiated, Secrets of the Zonai is a book from Dark Horse that’s all about the critically-acclaimed Tears of the Kingdom, with developer interviews, sketches, concept art, and more. Secrets of the Zonai is 472 pages, retails for $59.99, and pre-orders are open now.
Secrets of the Zonai‘s 2027 release shows Nintendo is certainly not done promoting Tears of the Kingdom. The 2023 Zelda game is the latest mainline 3D Zelda game that is completely brand-new, serving as a direct sequel to Breath of the Wild. Tears of the Kingdom earned rave reviews and won numerous awards at the time of its launch, and so it’s no surprise that its popularity has endured years after its initial release. That being said, it remains to be seen just how much longer merchandise based on the game will be released.

The Mineru’s Construct amiibo based on Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was recently released, and that’s likely the last TOTK amiibo figure. Nintendo will be moving on to the Ocarina of Time remake and its associated merch. In fact, the next set of Zelda series amiibo are based on Young Link and Young Zelda from the OoT remake. And if the Secrets of the Zonai book hadn’t been delayed to 2027, Nintendo would have moved from TOTK even sooner.
There is a great deal of hype for the Ocarina of Time remake, but its status as a remake makes it a little less exciting than a full-blown, brand-new Zelda game. Rumor has it that a new Zelda “Wilds” era game, aka a direct follow-up to BOTW and TOTK, is in the works. According to the leaks, the new Zelda will have dimension-hopping gameplay, but that remains to be seen.
