A crafty Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player has shown off an impressive custom battle machine that can swat Link’s enemies away like flies. Tears of the Kingdom was one of the biggest releases of 2023, smashing sales records mere months after its May launch on the Nintendo Switch and earning widespread praise for its expansion of the free-roaming formula introduced in 2017’s Breath of the Wild. One of Tears of the Kingdom’s biggest additions is a surprisingly versatile crafting mechanic, which players can use to create all manner of vehicles and contraptions to help Link bring peace to the realm of Hyrule once again.
As one might expect, the internet has been flooded with videos and screenshots of strange and stunning inventions players have cooked up in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, to the point where there are now fan-made databases for the machines people have scrapped together using the natural resources of Hyrule. From remote-controlled battle tanks to dragon-like mechanical gliders that enable Link to roam the skies, there seems to be no limit to what players can create in Tears of the Kingdom, save for their own imaginations.
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Trick Lets You Make a Floating Platform
A Tears of the Kingdom fan shows off their creativity by demonstrating a nifty way to make a floating platform using the game’s mechanics.
Yet another talented Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player posted a clip of their latest invention on r/HyruleEngineering, a subreddit dedicated to cataloging such fan-made contraptions. Dubbed “the Golf Cart,” GrahamCray’s battle wagon features two giant, spinning paddles on the front that send enemies flying into the air. Other Reddit users are impressed with GrahamCray’s work, with some even joking that the massive paddles have more in common with hockey sticks than the golf clubs they are named after.
As mentioned before, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been an overwhelming success for the Nintendo Switch and has won such accolades as Best Action/Adventure Game at The Game Awards 2023 back in December. There are already rumors of another new Zelda game in the wake of Tears of the Kingdom’s release last May, though series producer Eiji Aonuma recently advised fans not to expect a direct sequel to 2023’s blockbuster dungeon crawler.
It will likely be a long time before Nintendo releases the next Legend of Zelda title, but fans are passing the time by crafting all kinds of impressive contraptions in Tears of the Kingdom. GrahamCray admits that the “Golf Cart” may not be the first custom machine to send Link’s monstrous foes airborne, but it is still an imaginative way to fend off the dark forces of Ganondorf during the long and perilous mission to save Hyrule.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the sequel to the beloved open-world adventure, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This installment once again sees Link and Zelda battling to protect Hyrule from falling to Ganondorf. This new adventure takes place in the same land of Hyrule as Breath of the Wild but sees something called the Upheaval, which allows link to travel to Sky Islands, as well as deep into the Depths beneath Hyrule. Players can use special abilities to fuse together weapons, and build items to help them progress through the release.
