007 First Light finally has a release date on Nintendo Switch 2, and the game will be released nearly a year after it arrived on previous platforms. Debuting on PS5, PC, and Xbox earlier this year, 007 First Light features a version of James Bond early in his career as an MI6 agent. Developed by IO Interactive, the game abandoned the first-person perspective seen in the majority of Bond games, focusing instead on third-person action and adventure.
007 First Light was well-received upon release, and it quickly proved to be a commercial success, as well. The game has already sold more than 4 million copies worldwide, and that number should see a boost once the Nintendo Switch 2 version is available. The original Switch often struggled to run big AAA games, and those that did arrive on the system often saw major compromises. The Switch 2 era has been a stark contrast, as major games like Resident Evil Requiem have been released on the system on day one. Publishers are making Nintendo’s system a bigger priority, though games like 007 First Light and LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight have needed some extra development time.
When Does 007 First Light Arrive on Nintendo Switch 2?
007 First Light was delayed several times on Switch 2, but the game now has a release date of March 18, 2027. IO Interactive has also revealed a pre-order bonus for the game, in the form of the GoldenEye Suit. As its name implies, the suit is meant to evoke the one worn by Pierce Brosnan in the 1995 film, which was also replicated in the beloved N64 video game. While 007 First Light is a significantly different game from GoldenEye, the move should appeal to Nintendo fans with fond memories of the Rare-developed classic.

The Switch 2 version will include the same content offered in the 007 First Light Deluxe Edition. That means buyers will receive four additional outfits: Day of the Dead, Desert Explorer, Gentleman Operator, and Silent Anchor. Buyers will also receive the Agent’s Mark pistol and Gleaming Pack. As has been the case with several other major third-party games on Nintendo Switch 2, 007 First Light will be released on a Game-Key Card, as opposed to a standard physical cartridge.
The inclusion of the GoldenEye Suit makes a lot of sense based on previous comments from IO Interactive. The developers referenced GoldenEye 007 multiple times in the lead-up to launch, while also bringing up the history of James Bond on Nintendo systems. GoldenEye 007 is widely considered one of the most important games of the N64 era, and it set a very high bar for the future of the franchise on consoles and PC. Very few other Bond games have been as well-received, though 007 First Light is a notable exception.
With 007 First Light finally having a release date on Switch 2, Nintendo’s plans for 2027 are coming more into focus. The company has notable first-party exclusives on the way like Pokemon Winds and Waves, as well as third-party games like Resident Evil: Veronica and Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. It’s possible 007 First Light could still see additional delays, but the fact that it now has a firm release date should give Switch 2 owners confidence that an end is in sight.
