After years of waiting for even the smallest scraps of new information about Grand Theft Auto 6, Rockstar Games finally opened the floodgates with an extended look at the game, and there was almost too much happening at once to process all of it. Jason and Lucia were pulling jobs, getting into shootouts, exploring Leonida, and generally causing exactly the kind of chaos expected from a Grand Theft Auto game, but some of the most interesting things Rockstar showed weren’t necessarily the ones demanding attention in the foreground.
There are plenty of obvious takeaways from the new GTA 6 footage, but things like character switching, clothing customization, and working out had already been confirmed before the Extended Look. The far more interesting stuff is hidden in tiny animations, throwaway lines of dialogue, and little bits of gameplay that Rockstar never stops to explain. Some of them may ultimately amount to nothing more than fun details, while others could hint at much larger systems hiding underneath the surface.
For context, this list focuses on smaller details shown or mentioned during GTA 6‘s Extended Look that Rockstar didn’t explicitly highlight or explain, rather than major features that had already been confirmed beforehand.
Being Nice to Animals Might Actually Matter
GTA 6 Seems to Be Tracking More Than Just Jason’s Actions
Jason can pet a dog in GTA 6, which on its own wouldn’t be particularly surprising in a game launching in 2026. The strange part happens immediately afterward, when a small angel-like icon appears on the side of the screen alongside a little notification sound.
Rockstar never explains what it means, so calling it an animal bonding system would be getting ahead of things. Still, the game clearly seems to be registering Jason’s interaction with the dog in some way, and an angel is a pretty interesting choice of icon for something as simple as petting an animal. Whether it is tied to some sort of morality, reputation, animal affinity, or something else entirely remains to be seen, but there appears to be more happening there than Jason simply stopping to pet a good boy.

Jason and Lucia Don’t Just Stand Around When You’re Not Controlling Them
The Other Protagonist Can Still Play an Active Role in a Job
One of the most interesting moments in the GTA 6 Extended Look comes during a convenience store robbery, but it’s very easy to overlook because there’s so much happening at once. The player is clearly controlling Lucia as she enters the store, while Jason can already be seen further inside handling the actual robbery and dealing with the cashier.
We already knew Jason and Lucia could operate together, but this gives a much better idea of what that might actually mean during gameplay. The character I’m not controlling doesn’t necessarily seem to become a glorified companion waiting for me to do everything. If Jason and Lucia can actively take on different responsibilities during robberies and other jobs, their partnership could end up being far more involved than simply swapping control between two playable characters.
Not Every Job Is for Both Jason and Lucia
Some Opportunities Could Be Built Around One Character Specifically
Jason and Lucia might be partners, but the Extended Look makes it seem as though the two protagonists won’t necessarily be attached at the hip for every job they take. During one conversation, they’re offered work that needs to be completed that night, only to be told the client specifically “only wants one of you.” Lucia volunteers for it and leaves while Jason stays behind.
That little exchange could have some pretty big implications for the way missions are structured. Rather than every job either involving both protagonists or simply letting the player choose who handles it, certain opportunities could be written specifically around Jason or Lucia being sent out alone. At the very least, Rockstar seems comfortable regularly separating the two instead of treating them as a permanent two-person unit.
Snapmatic Is Back
GTA 5’s Social Platform Has Survived the Move to Leonida
Social media has obviously been a huge part of GTA 6 ever since its first trailer, but Rockstar slipped in a much more specific callback during the Extended Look. While Jason and Lucia are talking with friends, someone casually mentions looking at “Laurie’s Snapmatic.”
That means GTA 5‘s Instagram-inspired social platform is officially making the trip to Leonida. It is mentioned so casually that it would be incredibly easy to miss, especially with everything else happening during the scene, but it also suggests Rockstar isn’t completely replacing the social media ecosystem established in GTA 5. Snapmatic apparently still exists right alongside whatever new social platforms have taken over Leonida.
Jason Actually Makes Sure Lucia Gets Through the Door
Tiny Contextual Animations Are Making Their Relationship Feel More Natural
This might be the smallest detail on the entire list, but it’s also exactly the sort of thing Rockstar has always been ridiculously good at. At one point, Jason walks through a doorway ahead of Lucia and holds the door open for her. That alone is a nice contextual animation, but he also turns his head back toward her and waits long enough to make sure she actually gets through before continuing. Plus, it makes him look like a gentleman—which, good on him for doing that.
Of course, it happens in a matter of seconds and has absolutely nothing to do with completing a mission, shooting someone, or making money. It simply makes Jason and Lucia look like two people who are actually aware of one another’s physical presence. GTA 6 obviously looks incredible, but little behaviors like this might end up doing just as much to sell the illusion as all those reflections and ridiculously detailed character models.
Some Missions Can Take Your Guns Away
GTA 6 Might Occasionally Force Players to Improvise
Having access to an entire arsenal usually solves a lot of problems in Grand Theft Auto, but it looks like GTA 6 may occasionally have other plans. During the sequence where Jason and Lucia are working as security, one of them mentions that a security guard has taken their guns. The response is essentially that it’s a good thing they’re capable of handling themselves without them.
That could simply be a scripted restriction for one particular mission, but it’s still an interesting wrinkle. Rockstar can put Jason and Lucia into places where walking through the front door with an arsenal isn’t an option, forcing the player to rely on hand-to-hand combat, improvisation, or whatever weapons happen to be available inside.

Put the consoles in the correct order.
Jason and Lucia Have to Work Their Way Into the Criminal World
New Contacts Appear to Open the Door to More Opportunities
Jason and Lucia clearly aren’t starting GTA 6 at the top of Leonida’s criminal food chain, and some of the Extended Look’s dialogue makes their climb look a little more deliberate than simply completing one story mission after another. Lucia jokes about introducing herself to a new contact, collecting payment, and asking to be kept in mind for “further criminal opportunities.” Later, after completing another job, Jason and Lucia openly wonder whether they are now part of the man’s crew before being told to keep their phones on.
None of that necessarily confirms some elaborate criminal reputation system, but it does make the progression feel surprisingly organic. Jason and Lucia seem to be meeting people, proving they can get the job done, and gradually earning access to better connections and more work rather than somehow becoming Leonida’s most trusted criminals overnight.
Even a Police Chase Can Become Social Media Content
Leonida’s Influencer Culture Isn’t Confined to a Phone Screen
Rockstar has made it abundantly clear that influencers and social media are going to be everywhere in GTA 6, but the Extended Look shows just how deeply that idea might be woven into the actual gameplay. One particularly ridiculous encounter appears to involve an influencer riding along in the back of the player’s vehicle while livestreaming a police chase. It’s the kind of thing that sounds completely absurd until remembering the game takes place in a fictional version of Florida, at which point it somehow starts feeling believable again.
More importantly, this isn’t just another social media clip playing on Jason or Lucia’s phone. Rockstar appears to be bringing Leonida’s influencer culture directly into the things players encounter while exploring the world, which should give the game’s satire plenty of room to get weird.
GTA 6 Has Motorcycle Races
Leonida Is Already Looking Packed With Things to Do
The Extended Look throws a ridiculous number of activities onto the screen in a very short amount of time. Jason plays basketball, Lucia kayaks and works out, and both characters seem to have no shortage of ways to waste time when they aren’t committing crimes. Motorcycle racing is another activity shown during the footage, and it’s particularly interesting because it gives GTA 6 yet another type of structured competition to mess around with outside the main story.
Vehicle races are hardly new to Grand Theft Auto, of course, but having dedicated motorcycle events adds one more thing to what is already looking like an absurdly long list of distractions spread throughout Leonida. If Rockstar is showing this much side content in one Extended Look, I can only imagine how much of the game still hasn’t been shown at all.
Bayside Gets a Proper Introduction
The Extended Look Gives Us a Better Sense of What Another Part of Leonida Looks Like
Eventually, Jason and Lucia arrive in Bayside, with one of them asking where they are before the other confirms they’re “back in Bayside” and suggests taking a look around. More importantly, Rockstar doesn’t just drop the name and immediately move on, as the Extended Look actually spends a little time showing off the area itself.
It isn’t a full tour by any means, but even that brief glimpse helps flesh out another part of Leonida beyond the places Rockstar has focused on most heavily so far. With so much attention naturally going toward GTA 6‘s Vice City, these smaller looks at areas like Bayside are a good reminder that GTA 6‘s world is going to stretch well beyond the neon-lit streets and beaches that have dominated much of the marketing.
