Pokemon Pokopia has given gamers a spin-off that combines the world of Pokemon with the gameplay of Animal Crossing, and a large group of players recently came together to build the perfect island that was unfortunately destroyed by a griefer. Building the perfect island in Pokemon Pokopia is the game’s central goal, but it doesn’t always go according to plan.
The game has only been out for a little while now, but Pokemon Pokopia has already proven to be a huge hit. In Pokemon Pokopia, players take on the role of a human-disguised Ditto who has to build a civilization for Pokemon to thrive in. There have already been plenty of great Pokemon Pokopia island builds, but this 100-person team effort was something truly impressive before one player destroyed it.

This Public Pokemon Pokopia Island Saw an Impressive Group Project Quickly Turn Into Destruction
Actor Jon Cartwright took to Twitter to share the news that an island he and around 100 other players were working on was torn apart by a player who entered the public server. The island was left public in order to allow for co-op building, but someone clearly took advantage of the opportunity. Cartwright confirmed that players working on the island had at least recorded footage of the work that had been completed before its destruction, but it’s still disappointing for all those who put in so much time. Learning how to take care of a Pokemon Pokopia island can be time-consuming at moments, which makes this destruction even more upsetting.

This isn’t the first instance of Pokemon Pokopia griefers, though. Unfortunately, this seems to be an issue that a lot of public islands have been dealing with. One of the ways that griefers have been wreaking havoc on these public Cloud Islands is by loading Electrodes into cannons and firing them at structures. It’s a pretty inventive way to go about griefing on someone’s island, but it’s also incredibly frustrating for the players who have spent so much time creating something they are proud of.
Benevolent Pokemon Pokopia Players Can Help Rebuild the Now-Destroyed Island
The island being left public may have opened the door for a griefer to get in, but that hasn’t deterred the group from keeping the island available to any player who wishes to help rebuild what was destroyed. Jon Cartwright shared both the island’s link code and address on Twitter. So, those who are interested in working on a large-scale Pokemon Pokopia island can jump in and help. Before the place was ransacked, this island was shaping up to be a serene and cozy little hub to hang out in. Those who have been interested in participating in Cloud Island creations can also check out Pokemon Pokopia‘s Dev Island, which was built by the game’s developers. It could serve as a source of inspiration before jumping into a big project.
Keeping the island public could always invite more griefing, but that can hopefully be stopped if enough players band together to help bring back the creation to its original state. Having hard work destroyed is never fun, but there is one silver lining to this situation. Getting more people on board could potentially make this Pokemon Pokopia creation even better than it was before the griefer showed up. Instead of this being the end of a project, it can be a new beginning for the team that has worked so hard to bring this island to life. Since an invitation has been offered for more players to join in and help the rebuilding efforts, it will be interesting to see if this public island project becomes something even more impressive down the road.
