Pearl Abyss revealed an enhanced version of Crimson Desert that includes all the changes and updates made over the last 6 months. While launching to a pretty solid reception, the open-world action-adventure game definitely had room for improvement, and the developer seemingly took that to heart by releasing one update after another. Crimson Desert is in a far better place nowadays than it used to be, and it was always a solid game. The Enhanced edition includes expanded voice-overs, new story moments, and more subtitles.

One of the more visually impressive reveals at Gamescom, 1001 Threads of Mizan comes from a new studio, MBC, and is inspired by One Thousand and One Nights. Although not really showcasing gameplay, the footage highlighted a team dynamic, suggesting you will be able to play the game with a few other friends. The premise involves a conflict between the worlds of jinn and humans, with the latter being towering figures who should make for some epic boss fights.

  • Closed Beta on October 27, 2026

Morefun Studios’ Roco Kingdom drops players in a fantasy open-world filled with creatures to collect, and they are specifically called Jinies in this case. With over 400 monsters who are all unique, you can create a wildly unique team to engage in turn-based combat, which features an 18-class system, elemental matchups, and skill traits. You can also attend school (and pick from a few, apparently) and match costumes with your Jinies.

A City Building Lego Game

  • lego skylines gameplay gamescom trailer city streetImage via Paradox Interactive

Lego Skylines leaked quite a few months ago, so this short reveal trailer wasn’t that much of a surprise. However, it was still cool to see Iceflake Studios and Paradox Interactive’s city-builder project at Gamescom, and this really seems like the perfect marriage between IP and developer/publisher. The release date was not announced, nor were any major gameplay features revealed, other than the fact that things just click into place.

Airship Syndicate, the developers behind Darksiders Genesis, are self-funding an isometric action game called Dust: Origins, with its Kickstarter launching to coincide with the Gamescom reveal trailer. Set within an orbital prison, you must fight your way out of a platform filled with some of the most dangerous criminals and monsters in the galaxy. While seemingly playing like a twin-stick shooter, Dust: Origins will also emphasize strategy, as ammo and resources will be hard to come by.

Ubisoft Paris’s Rainbow Six Tactics Makes Complete Sense

The Ultimate Tactical Shooter Franchise Drops The “Shooter” Part

  • rainbow six tactics combatImage by Ubisoft
  • rainbow six tactics breachImage by Ubisoft

A single-player game set in Ubisoft’s universe, Rainbow Six Tactics represents a logical shift for the tactical shooter franchise; in fact, it makes so much sense that it really seems like it should have been done before. With 15 operators who have specialized abilities, gadgets, progression paths, and more, the game asks you to take on global missions with your squad, completing breaches and objectives. The perspective and gameplay style probably evoke memories of Gears of War Tactics or X-Com, but Rainbow Six Tactics will hopefully offer a unique spin on the well-worn genre. Exciting stuff.

Along with fast-paced action, the game incorporates roguelite elements, encouraging players to experiment with their builds in subsequent runs. The trailer highlights DED.NET‘s aggressive personality, showcasing even elements of pretty gruesome body horror, as well as larger-than-life characters. Krafton also revealed Tarae: The Unbound, an isometric action RPG.

  • Early access later in 2026.

Hailing from a new studio called Octopus Panic that features veterans who worked on Halo, Battlefield, and Battlefront, Gravhounds made for an intriguing reveal, although it was kind of difficult to pin down exactly what type of game it is. That said, it should be a co-op third-person shooter focused on establishing and defending bases, with a catalog of dog characters serving as the playable roster. Collect resources, build, play dead, and try to survive.

After not really doing much with the license for about a decade, Ubisoft has been trying to revive Heroes of Might and Magic, with Olden Era entering early access earlier this year. The publisher seems set to build on that momentum with a full 3D remake of Heroes of Might and Magic 3, one of the most beloved entries in the series and the turn-based strategy genre in general. The trailer showcased beautiful locations, the combat system, and a new art style that will hopefully satisfy new and old fans.
