Horror game fans have had a busy 2026, and soon they will have even more games to play. One of the biggest new game releases of the entire year belongs to the horror genre, with Resident Evil Requiem hitting the scene this past February to rave reviews from critics. Resident Evil Requiem is on many’s shortlist for Game of the Year, and for good reason, and by itself has ensured that 2026 has been a strong one for fans of the horror genre.
Resident Evil Requiem may be the biggest new horror game that released in 2026, but it’s certainly not the only one. Silent Hill: Townfall recently released to strong reviews as well, and the Halloween video game has gone viral for its wild multiplayer antics. The Sinking City 2 proved to be a massive improvement over its predecessor, and Crisol: Theater of Idols was one of the more intriguing indie horrors to hit the market. Soon horror game fans will have even more to check out, thanks to a pair of titles that are releasing on Thursday, October 8.
New Horror Games Are Releasing Soon
Starting Thursday, October 8, horror game fans are free to check out Hellraiser: Revival and Silver Pines. Hellraiser: Revival is a first-person horror game based on the long-running horror franchise created by Clive Barker. Hellraiser: Revival stands out when compared to many other licensed horror games of recent years thanks to it being a single-player experience instead of yet another asymmetrical multiplayer horror game, and that should help it get it some more attention.
Silver Pines, meanwhile, should also have little trouble standing out from the pack. It’s a Metroidvania survival-horror game where players explore a small town, solving puzzles, and fighting creepy monsters. Based on what’s been shown so far, it seems like Silver Pines has some Twin Peaks vibes, and it will be interesting to see how the masses react to it. The critic reviews are already out and have bestowed Silver Pines with an impressive 87/100 overall rating, making it one of the highest-rated new game releases of the year.
There’s a third game releasing on October 8 that may appeal to horror fans, though it’s not brand-new because it first released on PC last year. Deck of Haunts is a strategy card game where you take on the role of a haunted house, terrorizing humans. The game has proven successful on PC, earning a “Very Positive” overall rating on Steam, and will be making its way to Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on October 8.
Even more horror games are coming later in the month. Time To Wake Up is releasing on October 12 for PC and PS5. Tormented Souls 2‘s Switch 2 port is on deck for October 15, while three acclaimed Resident Evil games are coming to Switch 2 a day later, on October 16. Tenebris Somnia is a horror game that blends retro-style 2D art and live-action scenes that’s launching on October 16 as well, and early access horror game Blue Ridge Hunting will be releasing on October 20. Escape from Playtime‘s early access will be available starting October 21, and the Switch 2 exclusive horror game Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch is coming on October 22. Then there’s My Friendly Neighborhood‘s Switch 2 port on October 22, Red Chat Ritual: TSUMIMI Time on October 22, Hunter’s Moon on October 26, Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy on October 27, Anomalith on October 29, Terrible Lizards on October 29, and finally, the console port of Asylum on October 30.
