An unannounced LEGO set immortalizing Vincent van Gogh’s Almond Blossom is reportedly in the works, according to a premature listing published by a retailer with a history of such gaffes. The leak also revealed several other details about the upcoming LEGO set, including its alleged early 2027 release window.

The information comes from French retailer FNAC, which inadvertently surfaces details about unannounced LEGO products from time to time. One recent example came earlier this year, when the company leaked several LEGO Harry Potter sets ahead of their summer 2026 launch.

LEGO’s Almond Blossom Set Leaked by Retailer

Reportedly Coming as part of First 2027 Product Wave

This time around, a premature FNAC listing mentioned the previously rumored LEGO Art set 31222, identifying it as a brick-built recreation of Van Gogh’s Almond Blossom. The page was pulled shortly after going live in late October 2026, but not before being spotted by one eagle-eyed LEGO enthusiast. The now-redacted listing describes a model featuring 2,903 pieces and a €199.99 price tag, which will most likely translate to $199.99 in the U.S. FNAC even listed 31222 Almond Blossom with an exact release date: January 1, 2027. As things currently stand, the brick-built artwork replica will be one of the largest sets from LEGO’s early 2027 product wave.

Why Is van Gogh’s Almond Blossom So Revered?

Beyond its considerable size, the choice of subject would give the rumored set some historical significance of its own. Van Gogh painted Almond Blossom in February 1890 to celebrate the birth of his nephew and namesake, Vincent Willem, using one of the earliest flowering trees of spring as a symbol of new life. The painting’s delicate white-pink flowers, broad blue background, strong outlines, and tightly cropped branches also reflect the Japanese prints that influenced Van Gogh, resulting in a calm and immediately recognizable composition that stands apart from some of his more chaotic works. Van Gogh himself is said to have held the painting in high regard, later describing it to his brother Theo as perhaps the “most patiently worked, best thing” he had done.

LEGO Has Already Recreated Two Van Gogh Paintings

A plastic brick rendition of Almond Blossom would mark the third van Gogh painting that the Danish toymaker has immortalized to date. The run started in 2022 with 21333 Vincent van Gogh – The Starry Night based on a 2,316-piece LEGO Ideas submission, and continued in 2025 with 31215 Vincent van Gogh – Sunflowers, a 2,615-piece addition to the company’s Art theme. The former even included a van Gogh minifigure, while the latter did not. Given that 31222 Almond Blossom is said to share 31215 Sunflowers’ $199.99 price tag, it is possible the two sets will also have their lack of minifigures in common.

Almond Blossom has been the subject of numerous ambitious MOC designs over the years. An official set based on the celebrated Post-Impressionist painting would therefore be a big boon to LEGO’s ever-evolving lineup of art- and culture-inspired sets. At least one other addition to the company’s Art theme is currently rumored for 2027, with a May 1 release date. Although details about its design remain unknown, previous leaks have linked the unannounced set to product number 31224, an 879-piece count, and a $129.99 price tag. Its numerical proximity to 31222 Almond Blossom does not necessarily indicate that 31224 will be another van Gogh set.
