2K has confirmed the date that yet another one of its games will be permanently shutting down its online servers. 2K publishes a wide variety of games, including sports games that rely on temporary licenses. Thanks to expiring licenses and other factors, 2K regularly shuts down its games, with its sports titles impacted most often.

No matter how well a 2K-published sports game sells, it will eventually be on the chopping block. 2K has shut down many NBA 2K games over the years, and it also shuts down its WWE 2K games when they’ve only been on the market for a few years or even less. It’s an unfortunate reality of online games that they are always at risk of one day having their services shuttered, though the bright side is that fans often know well in advance when the games are shutting down. This way, they can plan ahead and get their fill of each game’s online multiplayer component before it’s gone forever.

When is TopSpin 2K25 Shutting Down?

With that in mind, some gamers may want to make plans to play Top Spin 2K25‘s online modes sooner rather than later. 2K has confirmed that Top Spin 2K25 will be shutting down on December 31, 2027. After that date, none of Top Spin 2K25‘s online features will be available, meaning that a significant portion of the game will basically be dead. Top Spin 2K25 received somewhat mixed reviews when it launched in 2024, but it’s one of the only major tennis games available right now, and so it shutting down will mean that fans of the sport won’t have much in the way of premium online tennis experiences.

Unfortunately, no new Top Spin game has been announced at the time of this writing to replace Top Spin 2K25. There was a 13-year gap between Top Spin 4 and Top Spin 2K25, so it’s hard to say when the next entry in the series will be released. However, with 2K announcing the server shutdown date for Top Spin 2K25 so far in advance, perhaps it is planning to release a follow-up at some point between now and then. That’s just speculation at this time, though, so fans should keep their expectations in check.

The good news is that there is plenty of time for anyone interested to get 100% completion in Top Spin 2K25 before the servers are shut down at the end of next year. Top Spin 2K25 has nine online achievements which will be impossible to get after December 31, 2027, so achievement and trophy hunters should take note if they care to fully complete the game.

In the meantime, various other 2K-published games have confirmed shutdown dates that fans will want to be aware of. WWE 2K25 is shutting down on March 31, 2027 on most platforms, while the Nintendo Switch 2 version is shutting down on March 31, 2028. WWE 2K26‘s online servers are also shutting down on March 31, 2028. PGA Tour 2K23 is shutting down on March 12, 2027, while NBA 2K25 and NBA 2K26 are shutting down on December 31, 2026 and December 31, 2027, respectively.
