6 Must-Play RPGs Releasing in November 2026, Ranked

RPG fans have been gifted an incredible year of games in 2026, but even though we are in the final quarter, there are still plenty more on the way. November is already a stacked month of games, with big names like GTA 6 and Ocarina of Time dominating the headlines, yet for all you RPG lovers, I guarantee there will be at least one game to satiate your role-playing desires.

We have huge IPs returning to the limelight, a whole host of indies with fresh ideas, and some outliers that may very well introduce a whole new sub-genre within the RPG world. Whatever you’re looking for, November is bound to have it, regardless of whether you are looking for a 100+ hour-long experience or a bite-sized adventure to kill an extra few minutes at the end of the day.

The 7 Best RPGs About The End Of The World, Ranked

Whether the apocalypse is approaching, already unfolding, or long past, these RPGs are among the best at exploring it.

Pathos

A Decade In The Making

Details:

  • Traditional roguelike with grid-based gameplay
  • Procedural campaigns and extensive character customization
  • Launches November 3rd on Steam

Pathos is a turn-based, top-down, grid-based fantasy adventure that strips things down to their bare minimum to deliver the depth and freedom of a classic tabletop RPG. The whole game starts with your character, and you get to choose between 30 classes, 12 races, and plenty of additional skills that ensure each hero has their own unique role to play in the party.

There are four campaign modules to get you started with, but the real excitement comes from the modding support that allows you to edit sprites, quests, and entire generation logic, effectively giving you complete control over how you experience the game. It might not be as flashy as other modern RPGs, but it is clear to see where that decade of game dev went, and I, for one, can’t wait to play the full package when it launches.

Gothic 3 Classic (Consoles)

Return To The Past

Details:

  • Launching on modern consoles
  • Sprawling open-world very different to the previous games
  • Launches November 24th for Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S and PS5

Gothic 3 Classic completes THQ Nordic’s console re-release of the original trilogy, bringing the 2006 open-world RPG to all the modern consoles with updated controls but all the original features intact. You return as the Nameless Hero to Myrtana, now occupied by orcs, and are free to side with the rebels, assassins, or invaders to carve your own path across an enormous map that seems to go on forever.

Its reputation was built on freedom, as factions react to your choices, and cities can be liberated or conquered, leading to vastly different outcomes throughout the story. When it comes to the gameplay, the combat is certainly demanding, but if you’re up for a challenge, then I can assure you that Gothic 3 won’t disappoint.

Heroll: IF

Bringing The Board To The Screen

Details:

  • Board-game-style roguelite
  • Meaningful progression paths between runs
  • Launches November 2nd on Steam

Tabletop RPGs have crossed paths with the computer world countless times, yet it is rare to see an actual board game-style experience in a digital environment. Heroll: IF is going to change that, with its roguelite gameplay loop that centers around a board that you navigate by rolling dice and fighting whatever you end up landing on.

5 RPGs Where Getting Stronger Makes The Game Even Harder

Getting stronger is usually the whole point of an RPG, but some games have a particularly unpleasant way of making players regret their progress.

Because of the random nature of the dice, you can end up with so many wacky combinations that just wouldn’t exist in a more organic style of game. And, even if you lose a run, there are always opportunities to upgrade and go again, allowing you to constantly progress towards stronger bosses and, as a result, better loot.

3

Underkeep

One Step At A Time

Details:

  • Classic grid-based movement
  • 4-man Party with unique abilities and skills
  • Launches November 5th on Steam

Underkeep is a first-person dungeon crawler built around grid-based movement, a style of RPG that has been rather quiet in recent times. It is a party game first, and you need to assemble a team of four adventurers, each with unique abilities and spells, to take them into the mysterious depths below, which house all manner of secrets and treasures.

No good dungeon crawler would be complete without traps, hidden passages, locked doors, environmental hazards, and you will have to deal with all of those at the same time as fighting enemies using whatever spells and items you have in your arsenal. Many people may never have experienced this style of RPG, but with this more modern and colorful approach, I think we may start seeing far more of it crop up over the next couple of years.

2

Dreadmoor

Something Beneath The Waves

Details:

  • Lovecraftian fishing RPG
  • Over 100 individual fish to catch
  • Launches on November 9th in Steam Early Access

Dreadmoor may look like a first-person version of Dredge, but it is so much more than that. Set in a dark post-apocalyptic world, your job is to sail and fish your way across the seas, encountering strange wildlife and people as you struggle to fend off the nightmares lurking in the waters.

Pokemon & 7 Other RPGs Confirm Official 2027 Releases

With all the exciting role-playing games set to release in 2027, Pokemon isn’t the only big name we’ll be talking about at this time next year.

The RPG elements are directly integrated into the primary loop of fishing, with skill trees and an upgradable boat that will keep you coasting along in search of bigger and better catches. And, much like a lot of its inspirations, the horror factor remains, meaning that as cozy as fishing can be, you will always be slightly unsettled by the potential dangers all around you.

World of Warcraft: Forever

Classic Azeroth Gets A Second Life

  • world-of-warcraft-forever-game-rant-hyjal-zone-1Image via Blizzard, Josh Drechsler

Details:

  • Expanded vanilla version with new zones and other features
  • Permanent branch of its own away from Classic
  • Launches on November 4th on PC

World of Warcraft: Forever was rumored for a long time and was expected to be just an additional version of Classic, yet we now know that it is a far larger standalone experience that many players have been asking about for years. It keeps the core mechanics and aesthetic of vanilla World of Warcraft but adds new zones, more than 1,000 new quests, updated visuals and lighting, and new race and class combinations, to give old-timers a real reason to give it a go.

As a permanent branch alongside retail and Classic, it exists in its own bubble, separate from modern WoW’s continuity, which lets Blizzard tell new stories in old Azeroth, and hopefully, keep the content rolling long after launch. The existing roadmap includes raids for December 9th, a hardcore variant, and lots more coming next Spring, so if you want a new MMO addiction to carry you through the rest of the year, then look no further than WoW: Forever.
