PlayStation 5 is getting a brand-new cozy, open-world life sim called Ova Magica, a game that some people have described as Pokemon meets Harvest Moon. Alongside PlayStation 5, the game is also getting ports for Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Ova Magica has been available on Steam since July 2024, where over 91% of user reviews are positive.

Created by ClaudiaTheDev and Skinny Frog, Ova Magica is described as a blend of “farm-life simulation with creature-collecting JRPG gameplay.” The developers also cite several sources of inspiration, including Story of Seasons, Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon, Rune Factory, Monster Rancher, Digimon, and Pokemon. Pokemon, in particular, seems to have had a noticeable influence on the game, as Ova Magica features collectible creatures known as Blobs that share many similarities with Nintendo’s pocket monsters.

Ova Magica’s PS5 Release Date Officially Confirmed

A new trailer has confirmed that Ova Magica will launch on PS5 on November 10. The game’s PlayStation Store page is already live, allowing players to add it to their wishlists, though its price remains unconfirmed. For reference, Ova Magica‘s Steam version received a small price increase around the same time as its 1.0 release in May 2026 and now costs $29.99. And the PS5 version will likely carry the same price tag.

Ova Magica‘s 1.0 version introduced several improvements and new features, including the option to romance or marry NPCs and new mechanics for Blobs. The game features an extensive collection of critters and allows players to breed their magical creatures to discover new species. Like most Pokemon-inspired games, Ova Magica also lets players use their Blobs in turn-based combat. Additionally, its companion mechanics allow Blobs to help with farming chores, such as watering crops and collecting resources.

The game’s replay value mostly comes from its changing seasons, procedurally generated dungeons, seasonal festivities, and mini-games.

Fans of co-op farming sim games should know that Ova Magica is a single-player title with a campaign that was recently completed with the 1.0 update. The game’s replay value mostly comes from its changing seasons, procedurally generated dungeons, seasonal festivities, and mini-games. With the addition of a marriage feature similar to Stardew Valley‘s romance system, players can also complete friendship quests for NPCs and learn more about their stories. Building friendships also helps unlock several gameplay features and vendors in town.

Ova Magica was originally set to launch on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch alongside the 1.0 update. However, its console release was later delayed to July, then September, and finally November. But after these delays, Ova Magica now looks poised to find similar success on consoles as it has on Steam. Fans of cozy open-world games should mark November 10 on their calendars if they want to be among the first to experience the game on its new platforms.

According to Ova Magica‘s PlayStation Store page, the game will also be available on PlayStation 4, with enhancements for PlayStation 4 Pro.
