The Sims 4 community manager has mentioned that an update is expected to go live following the next Laundry List, which should drop in early May. The Sims 4 launched in September 2014, over a decade ago. If gamers were to compare the state of the game when it launched to what it is now, it is completely different, as the developers have continued to work on it over the last 11 years, so it could become what it is today.
Although fans appreciate the developers’ efforts and recognize that they have released hundreds of patches with bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements, there are still many changes that need to be made to The Sims 4 to get it to a place where it no longer needs additional work. The Sims 4 is a very complex game, as there are dozens of Sims that inhabit the world, and each one has their own lives and actions that will influence those around them. On top of that, there are many DLC packs that add to this level of complexity and make it harder for the game to run bug-free.

The Sims 4 Developer Teases Upcoming Base Game Update
There are a few particular Sims 4 bugs that have been bothering fans lately, and it is possible that they may finally get fixed soon, in an update that might just be bigger than anyone would’ve expected. The Sims community manager, Cade, responded to a fan on Discord who asked if the next patch would be an actual update or focus on bug fixes, letting them know that it would be a fully fledged update. He mentioned that a laundry list would be revealed in “very early May,” and a base game update would release not long after.
According to the community manager, the upcoming Sims 4 update will focus on infants, toddlers, and Sim autonomy. Sims are known to be notoriously buggy when it comes to childcare. Even though gamers try their hardest to look after their children in The Sims 4, Sims will often pick them up and place them on the ground, instead of following commands. This is, of course, also an autonomy problem.
In the Sims Direct channel, Cade also shared that the developers were fixing the Secret Witness sentiment, which would be persistent in some situations, and the Scandals icon, which would remain on a Sim even if they weren’t part of a scandal. Both of these bugs have been extensively reported by players, and they will be part of the upcoming base game update, even if they are an issue related to the Royalty and Legacy expansion pack.

The exact date of the next Sims 4 update is unknown for now. However, laundry list blog posts tend to come out a week before an update goes live. The laundry list has been teased for “very early May,” so the post is expected to go live within the first week of the month. Therefore, the base game update should become available by the second week of May. Gamers who are interested in knowing more about any upcoming Sims 4 updates should keep an eye on the News & Updates tab on the EA website.
