Genshin Impact has officially unveiled Snezhnaya in its latest Special Program on April 24, 2026, giving players a preview of the new region, its exploration mechanics, its soundtrack, and even a sneak peek at a new Traveler outfit. With Nod-Krai’s storyline coming to a close in Version 6.6, the Genshin Impact community turns its attention to the northern borderlands of Teyvat. With the Song of the Welkin Moon finishing in Version 6.7, players can look forward to experiencing Snezhnaya in all its snowland glory in August 2026.
Home to the Fatui and the Snowland Fae, much is known about Snezhnaya, but very little has been seen up until now. It is the headquarters of the Adventurers’ Guild, and the nation most defiant of the Heavenly Principles and the concept of Fate. In some respects, it is the Khaenri’ah of its time, and Genshin Impact players can expect to see a hardened people when they set foot inside the domain of the Tsaritsa. Snezhnaya in Genshin Impact will be a return to an icy landscape for the first time since Dragonspine in Version 1.2, and its exploration mechanics promise to utilize the setting to its fullest.

Genshin Impact: Snezhnaya and Version 7.0 Coming Out on August 12, 2026
Revealed in the latest developer video, Snezhnaya is the next region of Genshin Impact, slated to release on August 12, 2026, after Version 6.7. It is the Cryo Nation, ruled by the Tsaritsa, whose ambition is to challenge Celestia by collecting all seven Gnoses from their respective Archons. Only the Pyro Gnosis remains uncollected by the Fatui and their Harbingers, though many Genshin Impact players speculate that Version 6.6 will wrap up this particular loose end. As seen in the Special Program Announcement, Snezhnaya is a vast nation of glaciers and snowy wastes, connected by a network of trains, with its capital of Snezhnograd housing Kresnik’s Torch: the core of Snezhnaya’s heating system.
According to the developers, Genshin Impact players will be able to greatly affect the environment in Snezhnaya, seemingly via gadgets obtained throughout the storyline. However, where Snezhnaya will greatly differ compared to previous Genshin Impact regions is in the dynamic behaviors of its NPCs. Patrols in Snezhnaya will frequently engage enemies along their route, sometimes even helping players out in the wilderness. Foes in Snezhnaya will be coordinated in their attacks and strategies, reacting not just to the player, but to their own allies and the environment itself.
Music and culture for Snezhnaya will mainly draw inspiration from Eastern Europe and the Arctic, with the Special Program featuring two new tracks from the Cryo Nation. While the developers haven’t mentioned the scale of Snezhnaya, the train system teased in the video implies that it will likely be a lot closer to Sumeru than Nod-Krai in size. New outfits for the Traveler in Genshin Impact were teased, though how players will be able to acquire them remains unknown.

Lastly, the developers teased new Elemental Reactions coming to Genshin Impact with Snezhaya, likely referring to the three Stellar Reactions circulating among beta players and leakers. With no Version 6.8, Genshin Impact fans can expect Snezhnaya to come six weeks earlier than anticipated, as Version 7.0 sets its release date for August 12, 2026.
