Diablo 4’s Worst Class is Finally Viable in Lord of Hatred

Diablo 4’s Worst Class is Finally Viable in Lord of Hatred

Buffs to the Rogue in the upcoming Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred have finally made the class viable again. Diablo 4‘s second expansion releases on April 28, 2026, and early signs indicate that the Rogue has received some very important buffs to make it competitive among the other classes.

The Rogue has been underpowered for a while now. While most other classes in the game have had periods of dominance on the Pit leaderboards, the Rogue has been left behind. Rogue buffs were highly requested by fans for Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred, as it would allow one of the game’s most underappreciated classes to have its time in the spotlight. There have always been powerful Rogue builds, as with any other class, but its consistently low placing on the in-game leaderboards compared to others has left many feeling as though it’s among the worst classes in the game.

What to Know About Skovos Ahead of Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred’s Release Date

Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred is debuting the region of Skovos for the first time, but the location already has a deep history and lore in the series.

Diablo 4’s Rogue Buffs Are Huge in Lord of Hatred

During Diablo 4‘s recent developer update livestream on April 23, Blizzard offered a look at the changes coming to the Rogue class in Lord of Hatred. Most endgame Rogue builds hone in on the Death Trap Ultimate ability to stay competitive, but the buffs in Lord of Hatred are seemingly primed to make other options more viable in the future. One of the biggest changes comes to Dance of Knives, which is now a Core Skill that uses Energy over time. It also has a new upgrade called Grenade Jumper, which turns all the knives into grenades, making it a more explosive option for Rogue builds. There are also some upgrades to Shadow Shot and Sentry. Shadow Shot will summon two Shades that fire alongside the player, while Sentry now spawns up to three Shadow Clone turrets that continue to do damage as a Marksman skill.

It’s cool to see the Rogue finally get some much-needed attention in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred. While the community has largely left the class behind at the top of the meta, this is partly because Blizzard hasn’t been giving it much content to work with. The Diablo 4 Rogue builds created in Season 13 and Lord of Hatred will certainly be interesting to see.

While players can expect the Rogue to be more viable in the Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred endgame, they shouldn’t expect it to be the dominant class. Every class in the game is getting some attention in the expansion, and power creep could be prevalent all around. The brand-new addition of the Warlock means that if any class is going to be overpowered to kick off Lord of Hatred, it’s going to be that one. Blizzard’s pattern is fairly standard – new classes are always dominant upon their introduction. The Spiritborn was overpowered after Vessel of Hatred in Season 6, and Diablo 4 Seasons 11 and 12 saw the new Paladin top the Pit leaderboards.

Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred releases on April 28, 2026, and it seems that Blizzard has stuck the landing with the expansion. As the conclusion of the Age of Hatred arc, it had a lot to live up to, but the Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred reviews indicate that Blizzard has finished off the story in impressive fashion, while making some important improvements to the endgame that players have long been asking for.
