No Man’s Sky Player Shares Idea That Could Add Even More Variety to Planets

No Man’s Sky is jam-packed with planets, flora, fauna, and things to do across its massive solar system; however, one fan thinks that adding dense jungles, forests, and swamps to the game would add more variety to it. Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky is known for its wide variety of biomes featuring all sorts of ecosystems and things to discover, but even with a whole new game from the studio on the horizon, fans still want more from the sci-fi title.

One of the most incredible success stories in gaming over the past decade has to be No Man’s Sky. Hello Games’ ambitious space-faring adventure game launched in 2016 to lukewarm reviews and an underwhelming fan response. The studio’s attempt to create 18 quintillion procedurally generated planets may have been a very neat concept at the time, but its limits were quickly felt by reviewers and fans, as many of the game’s assets felt like they were frequently reused across the solar system. What’s more, many fans felt that the game was sparse with content at the time. Ten years and 36 updates later, No Man’s Sky is as close to its original vision as it’s ever been, if not better by some accounts. No Man’s Sky was even granted the Best Ongoing Game Award at the Game Awards in 2025.

No Man’s Sky Player Builds Incredible Orbital Base

There are nearly infinite planets in No Man’s Sky to explore, and one player’s base fits perfectly into one of those worlds’ aesthetics.

No Man’s Sky Could Be Better If It Deepened Its Biomes

However, No Man’s Sky is still a work in progress that often takes fan feedback, with one fan on Reddit believing that the game would largely benefit from adding truly dense jungles, forests, and swamps — many seem to agree. While No Man’s Sky‘s planets are rich with 12 types of biomes, an argument that is often leveraged against the game is that it doesn’t have very densely packed biomes filled with intricate flora at large scales. Reddit user Common_Confusion_114 states that No Man’s Sky only ever has a small crop of trees and bushes here and there, and the game could have more variety if it looked like the series of lush jungle artwork that is included in the post.

Many fans in the comments on the Reddit post agree with Common_Confusion_114 and offer further improvements to No Man’s Sky‘s biomes. The top-rated comment in the post states that No Man’s Sky could benefit from a true sand planet like Arrakis from Dune, rather than the dense, lush jungles and forests the original post requests. Other fans state that they would like planets to have multiple biomes rather than one biome per planet, a common complaint even after all the game’s major updates. It’s also worth noting that some fans recall that No Man’s Sky‘s 1.0 launch included more complete, denser forest planets, but they were eventually removed in an early update, likely to improve performance.

No Man’s Sky continues to impress fans and critics a decade after its launch. However, its age might be the limiting factor in why things always seem so sparse across its planets. At the end of the day, this is still a game that launched on last-gen consoles a decade ago, and those hardware limitations might be why lush biomes aren’t as lush as they could be. It may be too late for a whole rehaul that could add more vegetation and fauna across the worlds of No Man’s Sky, but that doesn’t mean that Hello Games’ next title, Light No Fire, can’t build upon the lessons learned in the studio’s first game and build bigger, better, and more varied environments in the next go-around.
