Shoring Up Defenses – Arc Raiders Quest Guide

Arc Raiders’ Riven Tides update comes packing quite a few new quests to take on as you explore an all-new map by the same name. However, your first venture into this coastal map will be Shoring Up Defenses, which tasks you with reinforcing a structure and shuttering some windows, as well as killing some enemies roaming the map.

One of the objectives in Shoring Up Defenses requires you to have an Arc Alloy, which is an extremely common item obtained by killing enemies. As such, it’s likely you’ll get one while taking out the Wasps or Fireflies you need to kill to complete the quest. However, if you want to bring one in with you–or you’re just trying to be extra careful–it’s not a bad idea to come equipped with an augment sporting a safe pocket.

When you’re ready to set off toward the beach and complete Shoring Up Defenses, follow the steps below.

Destroy five Wasps and three Fireflies

Wasps are the most common and easy enemy in the game and can be found scattered all across any map, including Riven Tides. Similarly, you’ll find Fireflies roaming about in many of the same areas, though they’ll put up a bit more of a fight with their flamethrower. Even so, they’re nothing you haven’t faced during plenty of other quests, so just take it slow and use cover when needed.

Once you take down five Wasps and three Fireflies, you’ll have this portion of the quest complete.

Note: If you didn’t bring an ARC Alloy in with you, make sure you loot one off a Wasp or Firefly so that you can reinforce the Raider structure in the step below.

Use one Arc Alloy to reinforce the Raider structure on top of any Stacking Yard crane

Head over to the Stacking Yard on the eastern side of Riven Tides.

Here, you’ll need to climb any of the three cranes by using the stairs or taking a zipline.

At the top, look in the center of the area to find two gray steel beams with a makeshift shelter built between them. Interact with one of the flimsy poles holding up this janky metal sheet to use an ARC Alloy to reinforce it, which will finish this portion of the quest.

With that done, you’ll be headed to the other side of the map.

Board up shuttered windows in the hotel

Next, you’ll need to make your way to Hotel Panorama Azzurro on the western side of Riven Tides.

Inside this hotel are a variety of rooms with numbers above them, and many of them have red shutters on their windows. You’ll need to head inside one of these rooms on any floor and interact with a shutter to complete this final step of the quest.

In our experience, some windows won’t allow you to interact with them while others will, and different users report different windows working for them. We’ve had the most luck on the second floor of the hotel, but your mileage may vary.

With that out of the way, you can return to Speranza and turn in the quest. There’s still plenty more to come, though, so for more on what’s next, check out our comprehensive Arc Raiders guides hub.
