Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection has just been officially announced. Coming from Limited Run Games, Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection will bring six beloved Rugrats games to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 later this year.
Debuting in August 1991, Rugrats is a Nickelodeon animated series that focuses on a group of toddlers and their youthful misadventures. Over the last 35 years, Rugrats has grown into a sizable franchise with a plethora of spinoffs, feature-length movies, revivals, and adaptations now under its belt. These adaptations include well over 20 video games, with the most recent arriving in 2024. Titled Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland, this most recent adaptation was a throwback platformer that was directly inspired by many of the games included in this newly announced Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection.
10 Things You Didn’t Know About Nickelodeon’s Rugrats
One of the longest-running cartoons of all time, Rugrats’ reboot is coming soon. Here’s what fans might not have known about the original show.
Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection Brings Six Classic Games to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5

- Rugrats: Time Travelers (Game Boy Color)
- Rugrats: Studio Tour (PS1)

Announced on April 28, Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection is the next project from Limited Run Games, a company that specializes in re-releases of beloved titles from yesteryear. A total of six classic Rugrats games will be included in this collection, encompassing the series’ early history on the original PlayStation, the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance. One of the most notable inclusions in this upcoming collection is Rugrats: Search for Reptar, one of the franchise’s first video game adaptations that originally launched in 1998 for the PlayStation. Interestingly, Rugrats: Search for Reptar is the 67th best-selling game on the original PlayStation, despite the lukewarm critical reception it received at launch.
Along with the six nostalgic Rugrats games, Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection will come with a bevy of modern features that can be used in each entry. These modern features include a rewind and save anywhere system, several screen filters that replicate the look of a CRT monitor or retro handheld devices, a digital museum that contains each game’s manual and box art, and a music player that features tracks from the games.
Two distinct versions of Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection are being offered on Limited Run Games’ website. The first is a Standard Edition of Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection, which comes with just the physical copy of the game and will retail for $34.99 on both PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. The second version is a Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection Deluxe Edition, which will retail for $64.99 on both PS5 and Switch and will come with a physical copy of the game, a PS1-inspired game case, a CD soundtrack, sticker sheets, and a Reptar puzzle piece keychain.
