UFC 6 Fans Can Play a Month Early, But There’s a Catch

Gamers eager to go hands-on with EA Sports UFC 6, the next entry in EA’s popular MMA series, can do so a month before its release thanks to an upcoming closed playtest. EA Sports UFC 6 is set to release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on June 19, but despite showing no gameplay footage at the time of writing, EA has confirmed that a closed playtest will take place in May, giving some lucky participants to play a whole month before the game’s launch.

After months of rumors and speculation, EA opened pre-orders for EA Sports UFC 6 earlier this week and confirmed that a full reveal will take place soon. The announcement also revealed that former Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira will be the cover star for the Standard Edition of UFC 6, while Max Holloway, former Featherweight Champion, will grace the cover of the game’s Ultimate Edition. For those thinking of spending $99.99 USD on the Ultimate Edition, it comes with 7-days early access, a UFC Legends Fighter Pass, Expansion Pass, VIP Pass, the Iconic Moments Bundle, and the Rivalry Bundle.

EA Game is Shutting Down on April 28

Publisher Electronic Arts is shutting down the online services for a classic 2014 game at the tail end of this month.

While purchasing the Ultimate Edition of EA Sports UFC 6 will give players a week’s worth of early access, an upcoming closed playtest will give some the chance to play an entire month before the game’s official release date. EA has confirmed that the test will take place from Thursday, May 7, to Sunday, May 10. The studio notes that there are a limited number of spaces currently available, so not everybody who signs up will be guaranteed participation. However, for anybody who does want to throw their hat into the ring and potentially play EA Sports UFC 6 ahead of its June 19 release date, simply visit the official EA Playtesting website, create an account and fill in the relevant information, and then select the EA Sports UFC 6 playtest to register interest.

It’s unclear what content will be included in the playtest, as EA has not specified the exact details at the time of writing. However, this will give die-hard UFC fans the chance to provide some valuable feedback to the developers before the game goes live later this year. Whether it be bugs or minor improvement suggestions, closed playtests allows fans to go hands and not only get an early look at the next entry in the series, but also shape the title’s release to ensure everybody has the best possible experience.

With the playtest and full release all taking place over the next couple of months, fans are rightly eager to see more from EA’s next UFC game. The studio has said that a full reveal will take place “soon,” but a well-known retailer may have jumped the gun and unveiled some unannounced details about EA Sports UFC 6. According to a listing that has since been deleted, the upcoming UFC game will feature two new game modes, which will allow players to experience the stories of UFC greats or carve their own path from the backrooms to the bright lights. It also suggests that there will be a new “Flow State” gameplay feature, but the specifics of how it works are unknown.

As it has been nearly three years between entries, fight fans are desperate to get their hands on a new UFC title. But the good news is that it might not be the only fighting game making a comeback, as rumors have been circulating that EA is also in the process of reviving its iconic Fight Night series. The popular boxing franchise hasn’t been seen since 2011’s Fight Night Champion, but a trusted insider has claimed that development on a new entry has been on and off over the years, but is now once again in active development.
