Embark Studios has begun rolling out a brand-new ARC Raiders update today, April 30, in hopes of addressing a recent issue that was disabling crossplay for many players. The latest ARC Raiders update, which can be downloaded right now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, comes just days after the launch of Riven Tides and brings the game to version 1.26.1 with a small number of bug fixes and general improvements.
Earlier this week, Embark released the highly anticipated Riven Tides update, marking the end of the current 2026 roadmap. While the patch added tons of free content to the popular extraction shooter, it also seemingly broke ARC Raiders‘ crossplay functionality. Shortly after the update went live, players took to social media to report that the crossplay setting was suddenly disabled and greyed out, meaning it could not be re-enabled. This meant it was impossible to matchmake with other platforms and resulted in thousands of fans being unable to party up with friends outside of their respective platform.

ARC Raiders Rolls Out Update 1.26.1
Thankfully, Embark was quick to address the crossplay bug and offered fans a temporary solution. However, those who didn’t want to reset all of their game settings have been left waiting for an official fix, which is now rolling out to users across all platforms. According to Embark, the latest ARC Raiders update, which brings the shooter to version 1.26.1 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, addresses a critical issue that turned off crossplay for users and also includes further fixes for crashes. The team also says it has fixed some color variants on certain backpacks as it works on addressing more common crashes for a future patch.

There isn’t any content included in patch 1.26.1, but it was only earlier this week that ARC Raiders were treated to the big Riven Tides update. The free update brought tons of new content to the shooter, including a brand-new map, which is also called Riven Tides, a new large ARC enemy known as Turbine, plenty of new items, and more. Fans can also jump into the new Beachcombing Map Condition, which is exclusive to Riven Tides and allows players to get out their metal detectors and dig up some rewards along the beach.
Riven Tides also marked the beginning of ARC Raiders‘ third Expedition, which is gearing up for departure on May 11. Those who are looking to reset their progress in return for some in-game benefits, such as additional Stash space and the potential to earn up to five extra Skill Points, will need to make sure they have contributed to their Caravan so they can leave the Rust Belt next month. Embark also made some pretty major changes with the third Expedition, removing the Stash/Coin value requirement for Skill Points and introducing a brand-new damage challenge. Players will now need to reach 100,000 damage before May 11 if they want to earn all five Skill Points for the Expedition.

ARC Raiders‘ player count has been dwindling rather drastically in recent weeks, but the release of Riven Tides appears to have brought players back to the game, at least for now. According to data from SteamDB, Embark’s extraction shooter has been averaging around 80,000 to 95,000 players at peak hours on Steam. That number has managed to climb to 135,000 with the game’s latest update, but it is still a long way off from Shrouded Sky, which had over 250,000 concurrent players at the time of its release in February.
