The arrival of the next major Crimson Desert update is imminent and developer Pearl Abyss teased somne of the new features coming within the patch, including a new extraction feature. Since Crimson Desert launched in March, Pearl Abyss has continued to stay busy keeping the game updated and addressing bugs, while also adding new features and introducing more quality of life improvements.

Needless to say, the rapid-fire support has proven to be a major hit with players, with that positive word of mouth also likely helping to contribute to the game’s sales. What may be surprising is that all of these updates and content additions have been done without a dedicated Crimson Desert post-launch roadmap, a fact that Pearl Abyss has said is intentional. Instead of making presumptions about what players want or sticking to specific dates, Pearl Abyss instead decided to listen to players through feedback as well as how they were playing the game.

Crimson Desert Reveals New Features In Next Update

As fans wait for the next big content reveal, Pearl Abyss is teasing the next major update for Crimson Desert. In a new Tweet, the studio shared some new information, confirming that the update would be arriving in “the next few days.” In terms of what it’ll contain, the Tweet indicated it is adding new special mounts to the game, to go alongside ones that players can already get like the Polar Bear or the Icicle Edge Alpine Ibex in Crimson Desert.

However, that’s not all in store for players as Pearl Abyss also teased a special extraction feature that will be launching inside of this update as well, though it isn’t related or a reference to the popular game genre in any way. While a bit light on details, the Tweet indicated that this feature will allow players to recover materials used during the Upgrade and Refinement process in Crimson Desert. Unfortunately, just how this works or what sort of refund players can expect during this process isn’t yet known.

At the time of writing, it’s been less than a week since the last major update for Crimson Desert launched with some major new content additions. Again responding to player feedback, the May 1 update added the Rematch and Re-blockade options. The former is essentially a way for players to challenge defeated bosses again, either as they were at the time or with the Resonate option that scales the enemy to the player’s level. Any consumables used during the Rematch are also refunded following the battle, but for this launch version, players won’t be able to earn loot, though Pearl Abyss is open to changing this down the road.

In addition, Re-blockade was added to solve an issue endgame players have been running into where they’ve cleared most of the map, which prevents enemies from respawning. Obviously, with no enemies to fight, players found it nearly impossible to finish challenges, acquire loot, and continue progressing their characters. With Re-blockade, players now have options for dealing with this situation, leaving it as is, or respawning enemies either slowly or more frequently. At the time of the update, only 23 forts and quarries were included, but Pearl Abyss has confirmed it intends to continue expanding this feature down the road.
