A recent Pokemon Pokopia leak revealed that the DLC will reportedly add over 100 new Pokemon. Pokopia currently has over 300 Pokemon that players can unlock and befriend, includinkg event-exclusive characters like Hoppip and Sableye.
Released last March, Pokemon Pokopia dominated the Switch 2 charts for weeks with its take on the cozy life simulation genre. Players control a Ditto disguised as a human trainer, who revives barren islands to bring back several Pokemon inhabitants. The base game itself is already pretty deep, but with the franchise having over 1,000 Pokemon in total, many Pokopia fans are expecting more content in an upcoming expansion.

While Pokopia has undoubtedly left a mark on 2026, it is no longer the highest rated game of the year (according to a review aggregate).
Pokopia DLC Could Be Adding More Pokemon and Other New Features
There have been a number of theories about Pokemon Pokopia‘s DLC, from the potential new characters to more explorable islands. In a recent tweet by leaker Light_88_, it’s said that the upcoming Pokopia DLC is reportedly planned for a Q1 2027 release and that it’s rumored to add over 100 new Pokemon. Although they didn’t specify the possible Pokemon that might appear in the DLC, they said that Pokemon Winds and Waves‘ starters, Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua, could be included.
Pokemon Winds and Waves is slated to come out in 2027 as well, but no official date has been revealed.

Additionally, they reported that the DLC will launch three new Ditto forms, including a Kingler ability, and reiterated a previous leak that new Pokopia areas will open up. The rumored locations will include biomes based on Viridian City / Viridian Forest, Cerulean City, Cinnabar Island, Lavender Town, and an area in Celadon. If these reports turn out to be true, then Pokopia might have a hefty update coming next year.

Many Pokopia fans are excited about the rumored Pokemon additions and areas, noting that it’s like the developers are releasing a brand-new game altogether with the amount of planned content. Developers Game Freak and Omega Force have yet to disclose the final plans for the DLC, so things could still change in the coming months.

Pokemon Pokopia has a lot of potential for longevity thanks to the franchise’s rich universe and a still-growing Pokemon roster. It’s a great avenue for longtime fans to create their own worlds and live out their Pokemon Trainer dreams in a unique way. Plus, with Pokemon Winds and Waves on the horizon, Pokopia could be a viable platform to promote a lot of the new characters in the games, including one Pokemon that’s said to be inspired by Barack Obama, through crossover events. For now, fans will have to wait and see what Pokopia has in store in the future.
