New 0 Lord Of The Rings Lego Set Revealed, Contains 8,000+ Pieces

Lego’s next big and pricey set is for all you Lord of the Rings fans out there. The company revealed its upcoming Minas Tirith set that features over 8,000 pieces and nine minifigs, making it one of the biggest Lego sets released in years and the largest Lord of the Rings-themed set from the company yet.

On May 12, Lego announced its upcoming Minas Tirith set (11377), which the company describes as a “hybrid microscale and minifigure-scale design.” It’s an interesting, but effective way to display the full scale of the large capital city while also letting people explore a few key locations of Minas Tirith, such as the throne room as it appeared in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

Click the image below to flip through a bunch of photos of the set via Lego:

Minas Tirith contains 8,278 pieces and in the United States will cost $650 when it releases on June 1 for Lego Insiders. It will be available to all on June 4.

The set stands at nearly two feet tall, is almost two feet wide, and is 14 inches deep. You’ll need some space in your home or apartment to display this thing once you’ve finished building it. If you order the set between June 1 and June 6, you’ll get a bonus gift with purchase: A small set featuring some Orks and a battering ram.

The massive Minas Tirith set also includes minifigs of Gandalf the White, Faramir, Denethor, Peregrin Took, Aragorn as King Elessar, Arwen, and four Soldiers of Gondor, complete with various accessories. A lot of Lego Lord of the Rings fans are excited to finally have Aragorn in his coronation outfit, adding a nice bonus for those who pick up this set. And if you don’t care about the minifigs, you’ll likely be able to sell the new Aragorn fig online for a good chunk of change.
