It would seem that the reports from last week that some sort of big, exciting Grand Theft Auto 6 news will drop in the immediate future may have been on to something, as, over the past 24 hours, several content creators and users have shared images of a “Special Offer” they’ve received for a physical pre-order of the game, starting on “May 18.” However, Sony isn’t to blame this time around, as said marketing offer reportedly comes directly from the consumer electronics retailer Best Buy.
While these things are, of course, relatively easy to fake, the users sharing the reported emails from Best Buy have gone above and beyond to prove that they’re real. For instance, FrogboyX1Gaming opted to livestream himself physically opening the email on his phone to prove to the doubters that it isn’t fake.
I use a computer to look at emails because I’m old.

Likewise, there’s a thread on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit collating all of the posts from users who have shared evidence of themselves receiving the email. My favourite one is from the video game sales aggregator Cheap Ass Gamer on X, who exhaustively went through several different hoops in the comments just to prove that they hadn’t made the story up.
The email itself doesn’t give too much away, but it’s also simultaneously a lot more than GTA 6 fans have received in the past year. The alleged email from Best Buy specifically states that it’s for a “Physical” pre-order for Grand Theft Auto 6, and, if you purchase the game between May 18 and May 21, you’ll get a small discount.
Now, provided this is all true, I’d wager that probably means that this pre-order reveal was supposed to go out alongside a new trailer for the game, as that’s the way that Rockstar Games generally like to announce pre-orders. Maybe that means we’ll get a trailer on Monday, or maybe it means we’ll get one a little sooner, but I’d put good money on one coming our way in the next few days.
