Xbox Game Pass subscribers should brace themselves, as five of the service’s better games are leaving on May 31. Microsoft ensures that there is always a steady stream of games coming to Xbox Game Pass, but games are removed from the library on a regular basis as well.
Earlier this month, Xbox Game Pass subscribers had to say goodbye to five games. Galacticare, Go Mecha Ball, Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo, PAW Patrol Rescue Wheels: Championship, and Planet of Lana were all removed from the service. These games leaving Xbox Game Pass definitely stung, but it’s safe to say that the May 31 departures are going to hurt more.
Xbox Game Pass Just Confirmed 2 More Games for June 2026
Two more Xbox Game Pass titles lock down June 2026 release dates, with the service now having seven confirmed games for next month.
List of Xbox Game Pass Games Leaving Soon (May 31)
- Against the Storm
- Crypt Custodian
- Metaphor: ReFantazio
- Persona 4 Golden
- Spray Paint Simulator
On May 31, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be losing access to Against the Storm, Crypt Custodian, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Persona 4 Golden, and Spray Paint Simulator. Against the Storm is a roguelike city-building game that earned an 89 overall rating on review aggregate site OpenCritic. Crypt Custodian is a top-down Metroidvania that is also reminiscent of Zelda games, and it earned an 83 rating. Those are impressive scores, and what’s disappointing is that they aren’t even the highest-rated games getting the boot come May 31.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is a sprawling JPRG that was nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2024 and won the awards for Best Narrative and Best Art Direction. It earned an incredible 93 on OpenCritic. Fellow Atlus game Persona 4 Golden, meanwhile, is also an acclaimed JRPG, with an 88 rating.
Spray Paint Simulator is the lowest-rated Xbox Game Pass game leaving on May 31 with a 71 overall rating. That being said, it’s got its fans, and if you are someone that likes games like PowerWash Simulator, it will likely appeal to you. There isn’t much time left to play it on Xbox Game Pass, but if you’re curious, you can at least try before you buy, and the same goes for the other games leaving on May 31. As usual, games on Xbox Game Pass are available at a discount while they’re still on the service, so anyone that wants to keep access to the games can get 20% off if they decide to take the plunge before they’re removed.
Seeing these five games leave Xbox Game Pass is definitely disappointing, but the good news is that there are some new games coming in the very near future. A handful of games have been confirmed for the Xbox Game Pass June 2026 lineup already, including Final Fantasy 6, which could help fill the void left by Metaphor and Persona 4 Golden. Final Fantasy 6 may not have as much content as those games, but it’s still considered one of the best games ever made and should give the Game Pass library a much-needed JRPG boost.
