A new Nintendo Direct presentation will reportedly take place next week, offering viewers a glimpse at several games on the way to Switch and Switch 2. While E3 came to an end several years ago, the month of June has remained a major month for the video game industry. In addition to Summer Game Fest, companies like Nintendo, PlayStation, and Xbox have traditionally held events in June, as a way to lay out plans running through the following year.
In the latest episode of Last of the Nintendogs, Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb claimed that the next Nintendo Direct presentation will take place on Tuesday, June 9, or Wednesday June 10, depending on the time zone. Grubb previously said the Nintendo Direct will take place in mid-June, and it seems he’s now narrowed down the date. He went on to say that he expects that the presentation will be a “general direct,” as opposed to a Partner Showcase. That should come as a relief to fans, as it means there will be a focus on software from Nintendo’s own internal teams, as well as third-party developers.
