New CD Projekt Red Game Teased (And Not The Witcher 4 or Cyberpunk 2)

CD Projekt RED appears to have plenty on its plate with the discovery of new details for the mysterious IP called Project Hadar alongside the other games in development like The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2. It’s an exciting time to be a fan of the Polish development studio as CD Projekt RED appears to have plenty of content in the works, with new entries on the way for its core franchises as well as something completely new.

The studio remains as busy as ever, fresh off a new game announcement. Rumors really began swirling over the past few months regarding a potential “bridge” that would link both The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with its upcoming sequel. As it turns out, the rumors were true as CD Projekt RED revealed Songs of the Past for The Witcher 3. The third expansion is being co-developed alongside Fools Theory and has been confirmed to be skipping out on the previous generation of consoles. With the expansion announcement, it’s likely that The Witcher 4 is further away than many hoped, as Songs of the Past could be positioned as something to help make the lengthy wait a bit more bearable.

5 Things Confirmed About The Witcher 3’s New Expansion

Alongside revealing The Witcher 3’s “Songs of the Past” expansion, CD Projekt Red confirmed a few key details about the upcoming DLC.

Project Hadar Teased Via a Job Listing

However, more Witcher content isn’t the only thing that CDPR is cooking up right now. While fans are already aware of a focus on the Cyberpunk universe as well, a new job listing has apparently let it slip that there’s a third IP currently in the works as well. Over on the job listing portion of CD Projekt RED’s website, there’s a position available for an Engineering Director. What makes this listing interesting is that it’s a full-time position at the Warsaw office to specifically work on Project: Hadar.

While there’s not a ton of details to go off of, the listing does reveal that this individual will “drive the gameplay systems of Hadar” along with the rest of the team. Together, they’ll “push the envelope” for the “next, immersive game in the Hadar world.” The game appears to be an open world, something which CDPR has immense experience with already, with an emotional experience that is intended to stick with players. Regardless, it’s assumed that Hadar is still a very long ways off, with the game having the smallest team currently working on it compared to the likes of Cyberpunk 2 and The Witcher 4.

Geralt in The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt (PS4)

In fact, this isn’t the first mention of Project Hadar that fans have heard about to date. While a lot has changed for the studio over the past 4 years, Project Hadar was mentioned as a third tentpole IP for CDPR, though since that announcement back in 2022, there has been little to no information since. In fact, most details, scarce as they may be, have come from job listings such as the one above. Another listing for a Senior Gameplay Designer from a year ago seemingly confirmed that Hadar would likely focus on melee combat as the candidate should have ample experience with RPG/Action games that focused on that style of gameplay.

The other core tentpole IP, Cyberpunk 2077, also has a number of projects in development as well. While CDPR has already confirmed Cyberpunk 2 in active development, the studio also recently released a PS5 Pro update for Cyberpunk 2077 to push the visuals even further. In fact, the IP has plenty of other content in various stages of production as well including a vinyl record called Cyberpunk 2077: Ronin, the return of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and even an arcade racing game called Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome Rush.
