Folks, I’m sorry to report that, once again, the robots are up to some bullshit. This time, it involves a humanoid robot wearing a blue clown wig who was recorded kicking a small child right in the gut, causing the young kid to double over in pain as other children nearby laughed.
As reported by Futurism, the incident of robot violence occurred earlier this week during an event in Xinjiang, China. The Shanghai Daily newspaper reported that the young boy was not seriously hurt by the kick, but the mother claimed staff were “slow to react” after the bot attack.
You know who wasn’t slow to react? The kids around the poor boy who started giggling and laughing. Cold, but I have to admit, if I were there and much younger, I too would laugh my ass off at a friend or classmate getting roundhouse-kicked by a robot in a clown wig. Heck, hearing that the kid is okay and doing well, I’ll admit I snickered a bit watching the clip again. That kid just folds up after the kick. Damn. That robot wasn’t holding back.
Of course, if you’ve been reading Kotaku in the past, you’ll be well aware that this isn’t the first time we’ve seen robots go wild and be shitty. In fact, it’s become a bit of a beat around these parts. Somehow, I became the guy who covers robots doing dumb shit or failing in spectacular ways. Not sure how that happened, but hey, I’ll take it.
Anyway, I can’t wait for the next sign of the upcoming robot uprising. Sure, we’ll all perish under the steel feet of our robotic overlords one day, but at least we get to enjoy some silly videos between now and then. That’s something, right?
