August 25 is Suddenly a Big Day for Resident Evil Veronica

More information about Resident Evil Veronica will apparently be revealed at Gamescom, which is set to take place in August. Capcom has spent the last few years reimagining the various games in its long-running horror franchise, and Resident Evil Veronica is the next remake in that trend. Few details have been revealed thus far, but with the game set to be released in 2027, Capcom should have a lot more to talk about in the coming months.

A remake of Resident Evil — Code: Veronica has been highly-demanded, and Capcom is finally answering the requests of fans. Released on Sega Dreamcast in 2000, Code: Veronica‘s storyline plays a pivotal part in the overall Resident Evil continuity. Several key events happen in the game, and fans have been eager to see Capcom update the story and gameplay for a modern audience. While the original version of Code: Veronica remains available on many modern platforms, there are a lot of areas that the developers could improve upon to make it fit better with the recent remakes.

The Resident Evil Reboot Quietly Promises What Game Fans Have Wanted for Years

Resident Evil fans desperately want a movie that feels like the video games, and they might finally get it with the upcoming reboot.

Resident Evil Veronica at Gamescom?

Resident Evil Veronica was revealed at Summer Game Fest following years of rumors, but very few details were offered during the show. Fans are eagerly awaiting additional information about the remake, and it seems they might not have long to wait. According to REnews on Twitter, more information about Resident Evil Veronica will be revealed during Gamescom opening night live on August 25. Capcom has not offered any official indication that will happen, but it would make sense for the game to appear at another show hosted by Geoff Keighley.

Many publishers are likely still solidifying plans for Gamescom, including decisions about which games will be highlighted. The annual event in Cologne, Germany offers developers and publishers one more big chance to showcase their games before the holiday season. Companies like Nintendo have already confirmed plans for Gamescom, but it’s likely that many more will make announcements in the weeks leading up to the show.

While many fans are excited about Resident Evil Veronica‘s release next year, the remake isn’t the only thing Capcom is cooking at the moment. The publisher still has story DLC in the works for Resident Evil Requiem, though it’s unclear when it will be released. Very few details have been announced so far, and rumors suggest the DLC might come out after Resident Evil Veronica. That’s probably farther away than most were expecting, but fans can’t be too disappointed given the frequency and overall quality of the series.

If Resident Evil Veronica ends up skipping Gamescom, fans of the franchise will still have something big to look forward to just a few weeks later. Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil movie comes to theaters September 18, and it should be much different than anything done with the series on the big screen. Unlike previous takes, this one is set in the continuity of the video games, specifically during the events of Resident Evil 2. That means even fans that skipped previous adaptations might want to make sure that the film is on their radar.
