Grand Theft Auto 6's Collector's Edition Leaks Online

While pre-orders are open for Grand Theft Auto 6 in some parts of the world, that does not mean Rockstar Games has shown its full hand, as it seems that a Collector’s Edition may still be on the cards. Rockstar Games recently confirmed the price of GTA 6, its pre-order bonuses, and its Ultimate Edition (which includes bonus in-game content for a bonus $20), but conspicuously missing was the Collector’s Edition.

Most video games launch with a Collector’s Edition, but then again, Grand Theft Auto 6 is not most games. It has bucked many trends, including no paid incentives to play the game earlier than its November 19 release date. That said, Rockstar Games released Collector’s Editions for both Grand Theft Auto 6 and Red Dead Redemption 2, so it’s uncertain why it wouldn’t for GTA 6.

A new official statement from Rockstar Games appears to deliver disappointing news for GTA 6 Online ahead of the start of pre-orders.

It’s worth noting that it could be as simple as Rockstar is not releasing a GTA 6 Collector’s Edition, but that’s not the case, according to a solid source. Portuguese YouTuber Ricfazeres recently read from information shared with him by a source, which mentions the Collector’s Edition being priced at 199.99 euros (meaning it could be anywhere from 199.99 to 229.99 dollars, if this is legit). Fans should take this with a grain of salt, of course, as he quickly mentions it at the end of the above video, doesn’t specify any of its content, and moves on. That said, Ricfazeres has developed a solid reputation in Portugal and beyond online, so it would be surprising if this were simple farming/baiting tactics.

Hopefully, fans learn sooner rather than later if there is indeed a Collector’s Edition. It’s uncertain, even then, why Rockstar Games would not reveal it alongside the price, pre-orders, standard edition, and Ultimate Edition. Practically any other development studio in the world would have, but then again, Rockstar Games is not most devs. Suffice to say, whether real or not, Rockstar Games has built up enough goodwill that fans are likely to trust its marketing decisions, even as they are still on the hook for GTA 6 Trailer 3.

It’s not unheard of for Collector’s Editions to be highlighted in trailers, so it’s possible that after pre-orders are open worldwide, this CE is revealed and fans can upgrade. Maybe it’ll be revealed later as part of Rockstar’s marketing plans. Really, fans just don’t know, but it’s already been a ride, and there’s still five months to go until November. The only thing fans know about GTA 6‘s marketing plans is that it was to start this summer, and it has. Many assumed a trailer would be the first stop, but that’s not the case.

Still, it’ll be interesting to see how this marketing cycle rolls out, how the game is ultimately received, and if GTA 6 manages to live up to the hype. That’s a tall order, but Rockstar (if any studio) could certainly fill it.
