New leaks are hinting at another pair of classic Call of Duty games receiving ports to modern consoles. The leak follows confirmation that Activision is releasing ports of two other Call of Duty games in Black Ops and Black Ops 2.
Activision shocked fans when it officially confirmed the heavily rumored ports of the first two Call of Duty: Black Ops games. The gaming juggernaut will partner with Iron Galaxy to bring the classic Black Ops games to PS4 and PS5, with the games set to be re-released in July. Activision did confirm that the PS4 and PS5 versions of Black Ops and Black Ops 2 will be direct ports rather than remasters, likely coming with no major graphical or gameplay enhancements aside from potential upscaling to 1080p graphics. Now, even more Call of Duty games may be making a triumphant comeback on Sony platforms.

New updates to prominent PS4 update database Orbis Patches are hinting at potential re-releases for a pair of Modern Warfare games. The leak shows listings for PS4 versions of both Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3, suggesting that Activision may be gearing up to release ports of both games. The creation dates for 1.02 patches also date back to July 2025, suggesting that Activision may have been planning the ports of both Call of Duty games for over a year. Activision has not officially addressed the Modern Warfare port leaks, nor do the leaks give any clue about a potential release window.

While information is limited about the Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3 ports, the upcoming Black Ops re-releases could give some hints about the games. Both Black Ops games will be sold individually on the PlayStation Store for $40 and as a bundle for $80, with the rumored Modern Warfare ports likely seeing similar price points following their release. The DLC for the two Black Ops titles are also being sold separately on the PlayStation Store, with each pack being sold for $10 individually, or $30 for Black Ops 2‘s season pass. These ports will also likely not feature any major upgrades from their original release for the PS4 and PS5 versions.
If they come to pass, the newest Call of Duty re-releases will usher in the return of some of the most beloved games in the series. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is often considered one of the best games in the Call of Duty franchise, having received multiple awards following its debut and getting a remastered version of the campaign on Xbox One and PC in 2020. While Modern Warfare 3 didn’t see the same level of critical acclaim as its predecessors, the game did win “Best Shooter” at the 2011 Spike Video Game Awards and was nominated for “Best Multiplayer Game.”
If Modern Warfare were to receive new ports to modern platforms, it would pair well with the next major entry in the franchise. Activision is officially returning to the popular subseries for its big 2024 release, recently announcing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The fourth game in the reboot series was confirmed to have the longest campaign in Modern Warfare history, centered on a global military conflict on the Korean Peninsula. Call of Duty fans should have plenty to look forward to from the franchise throughout the rest of 2026, between multiple ports and the next big Modern Warfare game.
