Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls Announces Launch Changes Based On Beta Feedback

Following the end to a massive open beta weekend, Arc System Works details some of the big changes that will be coming to Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls at launch. There’s plenty of excitement surrounding Arc System Works’ upcoming fighter, one that was seemingly heightened after a big open beta. However, things weren’t perfect for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls and ArcSys is announcing some big changes coming at launch based on player feedback.

For many fans, the Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls open beta was the first time many could access the game, which previously showcased numerous builds at different show events like EVO 2026. Unlike those builds, the open beta came with a huge amount of content to check out, including 15 of the 20 launch characters. Players could also take on the AI in local battles, check out the Episode Mode story content, as well as hop online for casual matches or exploring the Easter egg-filled Marvel Lobby space. Unfortunately for some, the open beta featured more than a few major issues that impacted their experience.

Some Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls fans may have to change their plans after Sony announces a major hardware delay intended for the game’s launch.

Arc System Works Announces Major Launch Changes for Marvel Tokon

Following up from the end of the open beta, Arc System Works posted a message on social media thanking players for taking the time to try out the game. The post also acknowledged some of the frustrating elements to the Marvel Tokon open beta as well, announcing some big plans to address the PC-related issues that many ran into over the weekend, including major performance-related problems.

The post acknowledged the PC-related problems, calling all the player feedback “message received.” Arc System Works is already digging into the issues reported, with improvements being lined up to deal with the lag, rollback netcode, frame rate drops, and crossplay problems. In addition, the studio is tweaking how certain systems work, including reducing the overall CPU usage and fixing an issue that forced an unnecessary shader compile when the game started. Finally, streamers will likely be glad to hear that the studio is working on improving compatibility with OBS and Discord.

While it’s no secret that Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has some steep PC requirements, players who met or even exceeded the system demands ran into a variety of issues ranging from lag and stuttering, to some bigger problems like frame drops and processor bottlenecking. Natrually, player frustrations spilled online, resulting in plenty of new posts on social media and Reddit highlighting the problems. Thankfully, it appears that ArcSys is already on the case and will hopefully implement a solution, so the launch will go much smoother.

With the launch of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls about a week away, Arc System Works has already begun to tease the future of the game. During San Diego Comic-Con, it was revealed that Phoenix Cyclops will be the first DLC character for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. While Cyclops remains a popular character, especially in Marvel-related fighting games, no one was expecting this version to make an appearance. This version of the character sees Scott Summers bonded with the Phoenix Force, originally created as part of 2012’s Avengers vs. X-Men comic storyline.
