A new report suggests that the highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 may be lacking a popular feature at launch, with no first-person mode believed to be included. Rockstar is scheduled to finally release the long-awaited Grand Theft Auto 6 in November 2026.
The launch of GTA 6 is shaping up to be one of the biggest events in gaming history, with plenty of fanfare from Rockstar. Several trailers for the game have already broken records on YouTube, including the game’s second trailer debuting as YouTube’s most-watched non-music video within 24 hours. Rockstar recently gave fans a deeper look at the game with the highly-touted Extended Look trailer, first premiering on Netflix and showing off new details about GTA 6‘s story, mini-games like backyard wrestling, and much more. Now, one fan-favorite feature from past GTA games might not be present in GTA 6 on release day.
GTA 6 May Lack a First-Person Mode at Launch

During an episode of the Flow Games podcast, popular Brazilian content creator Davy Jones hinted at GTA 6‘s lack of first-person mode. While reacting to GTA 6‘s Extended Look trailer, he reported that GTA 6 is not expected to have a first-person mode when the game officially releases, with the game only believed to support a third-person perspective. Davy Jones was among several creators invited to Rockstar North’s headquarters in Scotland, where he was shown more in-depth details about the development of Grand Theft Auto 6. Rockstar has not made any official announcement about the exclusion of first-person mode in GTA 6.

While the Grand Theft Auto series has traditionally featured third-person action, the franchise’s previous major experimented with a first-person view. Grand Theft Auto 5‘s Enhanced Version, which released in 2022, added a full first-person mode to the game, allowing fans to experience the story directly through the eyes of GTA 5‘s trio of protagonists. The base game of GTA 5 had previously featured limited first-person capabilities at launch in 2013, but the 2022 update allowed fans to play the game in its entirety from a first-person perspective.
GTA 6 looks to bring plenty for fans to do throughout the state of Leonida, showing off a wealth of side activities. The game is set to feature everything from the traditional crime-focused jobs, such as heists and the new Criminal Profile system, to a variety of mini-games, including motorcycle racing and jet skiing. Fans will be able to travel to multiple cities around the state from roaming the streets of the iconic Vice City to visiting Ambrosia and the Leonida Keys. Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled to officially release on November 19.
The newest entry in Rockstar’s flagship franchise is already shaping up to be an unprecedented success for the company. Pre-orders for GTA 6 officially went live in late June, with initial reports claiming that GTA 6 had already earned $1 billion in pre-orders within just the first hour. Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two Interactive, shared its own take on the hype surrounding the launch of pre-orders, sharing that GTA 6 had seen an “exceptional start” to its presales. Grand Theft Auto 6 is primed to be one of the biggest releases in gaming history, and one that will likely be talked about for years to come.
