Pokemon is all-encompassing, and fans are never short of new releases to look forward to across various mediums. Sometimes, though, it’s a look back to the series’ past that brings the most interest to Pokemon fans. A new $120 release is taking fans back to Generation 5 in a surprising way.
Pokemon Generation 5 began in 2010 with the launch of Black and White (although they didn’t arrive in North America until 2011), followed by sequels Black 2 and White 2 in 2012. Direct sequels within the same Pokemon Generation are unusual, and it still makes Gen 5 stand out from the others well over a decade later. Both Pokemon Black and White take place in the Unova region, which takes inspiration from New York City’s metropolitan area. Players choose from either Hilbert or Hilda as their protagonist, depending on whether they choose to play as a male or female. Now, after 15 years, Hilbert is making a return.
Pokemon Gen 5 Returns in New $120 Hilbert and Victini Figure
Coming via Sideshow, a new Hilbert and Victini figure is available for pre-order right now from Kotobukiya. The Japanese figure manufacturer has officially confirmed the new 1:8 scale design, which pays tribute to Pokemon Gen 5’s male protagonist and a fan-favorite ‘mon from the same games. The figure is based on a “newly commissioned illustration by series artist Hitoshi Ariga,” with Hilbert posing as he looks at his Xtransceiver. Meanwhile, a separate Victini figure jumps through burning flames. There’s no doubt that the figure is incredibly detailed, but it also comes with a significant $120 price tag, making it a pricey investment for those who want to add it to their Pokemon collection.
Find the odd one out before the timer hits zero.
The new Pokemon Hilbert with Victini release stands about 7.8 inches tall and has been meticulously sculpted in PVC by artist Tatsuya Hattori. It’s not expected to release until between April and June 2027, although Sideshow says this is an estimate, and it could ship through September 2027 if necessary. Pre-orders are limited to six units per person, which will not be a problem for anyone wanting to pick it up for themselves.

There is certainly no shortage of Pokemon merch available for fans to collect. Over the last 30 years, The Pokemon Company has done an excellent job of making sure the franchise is a cornerstone of pop culture, one that comfortably expands beyond its gaming and anime roots. It’s truly everywhere, and it’s a major part of why Pokemon has stood the test of time across the last three decades.
Next year, Pokemon will reach Gen 10, a huge milestone after such an impressive 30-year run. Winds and Waves are the next games in the series, planned to launch in 2027 for the Nintendo Switch 2. The Pokemon Company and Game Freak continue to offer brief glimpses of Pokemon Generation 10, with hopefully more to come in the near future.
