Naughty Dog has been very quiet regarding its upcoming sci-fi action game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, but the upcoming PS5 exclusive has hit a significant milestone: the studio has wrapped filming its actors’ motion-captured performances.
News comes from a post on the studio’s social media channels, which included an image of Intergalactic lead actor Tati Gabrielle in her motion capture outfit and holding a plastic gun prop.

How far along does this mean the game is? That’s unclear at this point. Reports have the game aiming for a 2027 release, which would make sense if you compare this to the motion capture timeline of previous Naughty Dog games. Nolan North, who plays Nathan Drake in the Uncharted series, said he was wrapped Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End motion capture in October of 2015, with the game launching on PS4 in May the following year.
At the same time, it seems highly unlikely that Intergalactic is anywhere near that far along. Most of Naughty Dog was reportedly working on The Last of Us Online until it was canceled in 2023. But it is a major step in the development process, so hopefully we get a meaningful update soon.
Sony has announced it’s holding a State of Play showcase on September 3, so while there’s some hope we might see Intergalactic later this week, this might also be Naughty Dog showing signs of life for the game to avoid a bunch of speculation if it’s a no-show at the event. Insider NateTheHate recently suggested the game might be aiming to drop in the second half of 2027.
Naughty Dog’s last new game was 2020’s The Last of Us Part II, followed by remasters and ports of both TLOU games and the Uncharted PS4 games. The studio was working on a live-service multiplayer game set in the Last of Us universe before it was canceled in 2023.
