Dragonwilds Issues New Official Statement on Price Ahead of the Big 1.0 Release

RuneScape: Dragonwilds is about to make a pretty big change for the long-running franchise, and as a result, the company has issued a statement on an expected price change. The open-world survival-crafting RPG will leave Early Access and launch its full 1.0 version on September 15, bringing RuneScape to consoles for the first time in the series’ 25-year history. It will also be available on day one through Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, giving subscribers an easy way to jump into Ashenfall.

Obviously, this is a big moment for RuneScape, as the franchise as a whole has always been a PC and mobile franchise. RuneScape: Dragonwilds has already found an audience through Steam Early Access, but September’s launch will open it up to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 players as well. Crossplay will also allow players across supported platforms to adventure together, and those who do not pick it up on PS Plus Extra or Xbox Game Pass do not have to worry about a price increase either (as it would be a full-blown premium game, not just a game in Early Access).

PS Plus Monthly Free Games for September 2026 Are Officially Available Now

PlayStation Plus members are now able to claim four complimentary monthly games with a combined value of $180, available until October 5, 2026.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds is Not Changing Price

Despite all the content additions coming to 1.0 (and that have come in past updates), developer Jagex has announced it will not increase the price of RuneScape: Dragonwilds when it reaches version 1.0. The game will remain $29.99 in the United States and £24.99 in the UK, with that price covering the complete Kuldra’s Saga and the free updates surrounding it. This means players who have been waiting for the Early Access period to end will not have to pay more for waiting.

Jagex also says Runescape: Dragonwilds is not going to stop receiving content once 1.0 arrives. Monthly updates will continue as the game grows, with the next one already announced as Luminance. Like the other free updates, Luminance will not require players to spend anything extra. Jagex plans to reveal more about its 2027 plans after the 1.0 launch, with RuneFest also set to provide more information about RuneScape: Dragonwilds‘ future and the next Saga in Ashenfall’s story.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds Releases New July 2025 Update

For console players, RuneScape: Dragonwilds is also getting an unusually accessible launch. PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers can play the game as part of their subscription from day one, while Xbox Game Pass subscribers can do the same on Xbox Series X|S. This gives the first RuneScape game ever released on console a chance to reach a much larger audience immediately, without requiring everyone to buy it separately.

With RuneScape: Dragonwilds having already surpassed one million players during Early Access, Jagex clearly has plenty of momentum heading into 1.0. Keeping the $29.99 price in place means the full release will not come with a higher entry point, while the Game Pass and PS Plus launches make it even easier for curious players to see what RuneScape looks like as a survival game. On September 15, the franchise will finally take that step onto consoles for the first time.
