New PS Plus Monthly Game Revealed Ahead of the State of Play

New PS Plus Monthly Game Revealed Ahead of the State of Play

Ahead of September 3’s State of Play, a new PS Plus monthly game is revealed by an insider with a reliable and proven track record, and it’s a particularly exciting addition to the PS Plus Premium classics game catalog. It is expected to be officially confirmed during the State of Play, but it’s worth reiterating that this source is highly reliable.

Leaker NateTheHate2 has developed a reputation for highly accurate leaks, including the reveal of the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. NateTheHate2 also has a reputation for keeping quiet until completely certain, so when someone on Twitter asked what the leaker has heard about the State of Play, his confirmations should be taken as rumors, with a grain of salt, but much more trustworthy than someone on the internet. While it’s largely an “ok” reveal, perhaps even lowering the bar for the State of Play, it is good news for PS Plus Premium subscribers.

New PS Plus Games Have Free DLC to Claim

In addition to the monthly free game offerings for September 2026, PlayStation Plus subscribers can claim some DLC packs for free.

PS Plus Premium is Getting Dino Crisis 2

When asked what he’s heard is being shown at the new State of Play for September 2026, NateTheHate2 responded with “Keeper, Rhapsody, Daba, Dino Crisis 2, Until Dawn 2.” Keeper is a former Xbox exclusive presumably coming to PlayStation following developer Double Fine’s break from Xbox, while Until Dawn 2 is an exciting upcoming horror game that many fans are familiar with. Meanwhile, Daba is an upcoming dark fantasy Soulslike game. Rhapsody may also refer to a new game, or it may refer to the classic PS1 game (that is already available via digital download on PS5). Dino Crisis 2 is the big kicker here, as it can only really refer to a new PS Plus Premium addition.

Dino Crisis 1 is already available on PS Plus Premium, so with PlayStation’s new penchant for announcing PS Plus games months ahead of time (as it did at the last State of Play), it makes perfect sense to add Dino Crisis 2. NateTheHate2 does not specify a release timeline, so it could be joining RuneScape: Dragonwilds as a new PS Plus game for September 2026, or it could be coming later this year. For those unaware, Dino Crisis 2 is a fast-paced survival horror action game that sends players back to the Cretaceous Period, following Regina and Dylan as they attempt to rescue survivors and recover research data after another catastrophic Third Energy accident. Unlike the more horror-focused original, Dino Crisis 2 leans heavily into action, putting players up against more than 10 types of dinosaurs across jungles, caves, lakes, and overgrown ruins.

It’s worth mentioning that Dino Crisis 2 released on Steam in February 2026, so this move is not entirely out of left field either. And while it certainly shows its age, the reception on Steam in the big 2 0 2 6 has been largely positive. Dino Crisis 2 has been met with a Very Positive reception on Steam, with 87% of roughly 700 user reviews recommending the game. Much of the praise is directed at the game itself, with longtime fans happy to see Capcom’s dinosaur-focused classic finally available on Steam and many reviewers continuing to enjoy its action-heavy approach. However, the Steam release has also attracted criticism for its implementation of Enigma Protector DRM, particularly because the game is already available on GOG without the same DRM.
